Ban Bat tampering now!

Bowlers are not allowed to do anything to the ball.  But batsmen can keep increasing weight, shaving the bat in odd places to maximize weight to hitting power, etc - no restrictions.  

 

Convicts like Ponting even re-inforced their bats with non-wood materials like Graphite and were not penalized.  He had the audacity to claim it was a "Sticker".  Shameless.  

 

Time has come to prevent the game being reduced to a six-athon.  Boundaries and big hits have to be earned with quality batting and skill, not just brute force and big heavy bats.  Else the evolving game will change into a different beast.

 

Bat tampering regulations are way overdue.  Also boundary sizes need to be regulated as well.  Time to attempt and restore some balance to the limited overs game.

When you mention that graphite bat, horrors of 2003 world cup are refreshed. Ponting made last 90 runs of just 47 balls with 8 sixes in pre T20 era.

At least they should get rid of the 2 new balls in ODIs. It has removed spin and reverse swing from the game, to a degree.

Good point! It is a shame bowlers are reduced to the status of mere ball boys. Pitches don't offer any assistance and to top it off, these tampered bats are belting the ball out of the park all day. Upon a time a six was such a rarity and took some special skills to pull it off. Now any hack can swing the bat and even a mishit sails over the boundary ropes.

What makes you think that some of the Indian batsmen aren't using that currently? In every national team there are 2-3 culprits but they can't be brought to book because they are very popular and cricket needs STARS otherwise the game would be nothing.

Hmm to be fair apart from the last odi in this series scores have been OK. 250-260 Odis 1-2

ODI wickets in Eng are as bad as Aus highways. Coupled with these flat tracks and tree tunk bats I highly doubt any asian team would make it into the semis in CT'17. We just don't have enough gorillas in our teams.

I think this cute method of pulling the ropes in with hoardings has to be banned, spread the field out as much as the ground allows, have hoardings outside the railings.
