MCcricket Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 Murali needs to get into a positive mindset, nothing wrong with his game, needs to rotate strike a bit more
Sandeep99 Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 Has been terrible for some time now... needs to buck up.. otherwise Dhawan will get another look in
The Realist Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 Ageing journeyman. Barely averages 40 in test cricket. SecondSlip 1

Dude you really need to lighten up on the negativity. M00Li's failed in a grand total of 1.5 tests - he just scored a 100 in Rajkot. I'm sure he'll play well in the second innings. Think back to Adelaide and Kohli's heroics. Who was at the other end for the most part? Cricketics and beetle 2
Bigg Brother Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 Got out in very atypical way today..He never goes for the ball outside off...It was very wide.
fineleg Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 (edited) Even if you are a bit out of form, fine take a Test or two to come back to form. But STOP WALKING!!! Let Alastair Cook, Bairstow and Stokes use the darn DRS if they really feel confident. They may have not used it for all you know. Edited November 27, 2016 by fineleg
express bowling Posted November 27, 2016 Posted November 27, 2016 (edited) I am worried about a batsman only when he loses either reflexes or eye-sight or both. Vijay retains both. Just needs to sit with the batting coach....look at his recent videos ....and find out why he is failing. Then practice very hard to rectify that. If it is an injury issue then take a break, get fit and then return. If it is a mindset issue...the captain and coach must motivate him. Edited November 27, 2016 by express bowling Cricketics 1

If a player needs motivating to play for their national team then they should not be there in the first place.

It has happened with many a top player across sports. Other aspects of one's life may affect the focus on cricket. A bit of counselling is required then. I am not sayin g that is the case with Vijay though...his case seems more like carrying some injury but not taking time-off because of the competition for the openers' slot after rahul has come. sandeep 1

Texan Posted November 30, 2016 Posted November 30, 2016 Average below 40 does not suit a player of his potential. What is worrying is that he got out to the short ball twice in the last 2 Tests now. He is capable of playing better than his scores suggest. Hope he can get back to form in the next Test. beetle 1
beetle Posted November 30, 2016 Author Posted November 30, 2016 I will hide this thread before his next match and unhide it only when he scores well. Forever Indian 1

Forever Indian Posted December 9, 2016 Posted December 9, 2016 (edited) Vijay on 70 not out A Century in first test and didn’t do well in only last two tests possibly due to his back spasms and ICF wants his head. Good that atleast Kohli and Kumble had more sense and patience Vijay is one of the best defensive player of the short ball. He leaves like 98% of the short balls and doesn’t have a short ball problem. So his wickets of short balls looked more to do with his back not letting him get into the right position to leave or defend them properly. Just think what would have happened if Kohli had been dropped after the England tour debacle. Players like Vijay, Pujara, Rahane, Kohli are the core of our test team and they can also have bad form like everyone else. So we should show patience when they are not scoring enough as when they are in form they score big and win you matches Edited December 9, 2016 by Forever Indian CommonMan and Cricketics 2
