gakgupta Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 No one has started the thread and i thought of doing doing one as i am a big fan of wrist spin bowling (Not Amit thought).... Credit where its due.....really really enjoyed the spell....there were some mandatory bad bowls but there were some beautiful bowls..... Is it the pitch ? or opposition batting quality ? or quality of bowling ? or combination of all? Either ways, 5 fer in ODI's is rare and it came against decent side.....most of the sides would have bundled out for that kind of spell ( except pakistan and srilanka) Ironhide, Mosher, tweaker and 2 others 5

Tibarn Posted October 29, 2016 Posted October 29, 2016 Fan of Mishra, but too bad he choked in the WT20 in 2014.
Mosher Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 Mishra has bowled really well but he needs to really work on his fielding. express bowling 1

Cricketics Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 He should be must in ODI's. Whever a batsman is attacking, If you need wickets in LOI and the opposition is attacking, then he is the best spinner in the country.

In the middle of the overs, it's hard to get wickets....wrist spinners can get you those wickets.... Main problem with mishra is.....he doesn't get zip off the wicket.....but that will be his strength as batsmen try to score of him in ODIs and slowness will help him get wickets Sent from my XT1068 using Tapatalk Ankit_sharma03 and Cricketics 2

Ankit_sharma03 Posted October 30, 2016 Posted October 30, 2016 Lets not get carried away with such perfomances, in past also we have done that and perfomance was mostly due to pitches. Mishra is not a long term solution , neither he wont last long......soon or later he ll be exposed and would get a real phainty in overseas. 1. Mishra doesnt have that zip, he is slow through air. You see him and other leg spinner ull know the diff 2. put him under pressure, he ll loose the plot. Just start taking him on. 3. Doesnt have the heart of a leg spinner which means he is a lil scared. In this series i can point out 3 instances Dhoni asked him "slip lega" against a struggling ross taylor, he choose not to as he was to scared that he ll go for runs. Bad attitude Dhoni told him in 1st Odi " nikal ke marega" he got scared and gifted southee a full toss. Get nerveous Even in Last game, dhoni had to tell him "khul ke ball dall", it was the pitch and poor batting that came to his rescue 4. He is a really poor fielder. 5. Kuldeep can contribute more to this team and has a future to. I wont keep someone like Kuldeep waiting for mishra

I wont keep someone like Kuldeep waiting for mishra Your analysis is just biased judgement because you clearly don't like him for whatever reason. Compare him to Ashwin's ODI stats. Mishra has got 2 x 4 wicket hauls and 2 x 5 wicket hauls in 34 innings. Compared to that, Ashwin has only got 1 x 4 wicket haul (that too against UAE) in 100+ innings. Average wise and economy rate wise also Mishra's stats are better. Mishra is a much more attacking limited overs bowler than Ashwin though Ashwin is a far superior Test player (there is no comparison there as Ashwin is leagues ahead). Ironhide, sandeep and mishra 3
renjith Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Now both the spinners (aswin & axar/jadeja) we play in odis are defensive options. We need atleast one attacking spin bowler in middle overs even if that means ashwin needs to sit out as the other spin option is an allrounder. If we bowl completely defensive in the overs 15 to 40, our seam bowlers will be taken to cleaners in the last 10 overs. sandeep 1
mishra Posted October 31, 2016 Posted October 31, 2016 Stats dont tell that in odis (If Mishra is playing), Mishra is generally on even before any of our other spinners. What it means is he is either bowling to set bnatsmen or best opponent batsmen who still got time pace their inning Ironhide and tweaker 2

Stats are misleading- Kambli has a higher avg than all our batting gr8 Raydu avgs above 50 Look at adam voges avgs N if he has been that good, how come he isnt the 1st or even 2nd choice. Now ull come with Dhoni quote excuse , well take my word even kohli wont pick him. I have no personal issue- fielding is not a whatever issue. Dropping 3 catches well do that in cruical game n team wud be on the flight back home. Why are u giving me that uae stat when mishra one 5kt haul has been also with Zimb. If raydu also keeps playing against Zimb for few more series the guy wud avg more than 70, wud that mean he is better than kohli. Rohit sharma has 2-200s, guptil , gayle has one wud u say they are better batsman than kohli. U shud never see the Stats but always ask urself would this guy do well if against Aus, SA . Could he cost u something in field. How would he react when warner, Abdv take him on. These Nz batsman were mentally defeated only. I knw if i put him in real contest more often than not he ll be on the receiving side. Edited October 31, 2016 by Ankit_sharma03 tweaker 1

Since you mentioned that you should never see stats, let me ask you a simple question - do you see Ashwin as an attacking bowling option in ODIs or do you see Mishra as a more attacking bowling option? I brought out the Ashwin UAE only 4-fer only because Mishra is lambasted left, right and center for performing only against Zim. Well, he has got a 5-fer vs NZ and a 4-fer vs WI in about a third of the matches that Ashwin has played. Sure, I expect him to get spanked around the park occasionally and over the long term his Economy Rate could swell over Ashwin. But watch him bowl and he is always looking for wickets even in LOIs while Ashwin and Jadeja are just looking to restrict scoring. In LOIs also you need some attacking bowling options because wickets ultimately throttle the scoring rate. Again, I am not saying that he should play every match. But, even if there is a hint of turn from the wicket, he should be played ahead of some of our other spinners who are more content at keeping the scoring rate down than getting wickets. Just look at how NZ spinners out-bowled our spinners in this match by looking to get wickets. tweaker and Ironhide 2

Yeah....pace at which he is bowling is little slow but it's working for him.... He got man of the series against a decent one day side.....he deserves more chances.... Without giving him chances you cannot rule him out....you never know what will work in one day matches.... Only downside is....he is pathetic fielder...too bad

Just look at how NZ spinners out-bowled our spinners in this match by looking to get wickets. Its not about argument, stats are not always right. About ur ques who is more attacking well without a doubt its ashwin. U dnt get a stamp of being an attacking bowler by just being a leg spinner or a wrist spinner. Attacking bowler is the one who looks for wkts not to save runs. Eg quoted above how mishra was even scared to take a slip when a struggling taylor was batting. On the contrary ashwin has never felt and criticized in open of being used him as a defensive bowler. Definately leg spinner are considered an asset but doesnt mean evert leg spinner is good. Mostly u have seen him against Zimb, wi and now Nz who was batting like they have been defeated in their heads. Now this is our bowler against a good side like on good pitches- 2015-2016 India v. South Africa 40 1 218 4 0 2/47 54.50 60.00 5.45 4 matches 2 wkts........story changes when quality of opp changes Something that has helped his stats immesnly, 2013-2014 Zimbabwe v. India 47.3 2 209 18 2 6/48 11.61 15.83 4.40 Now if i mix these two series only and make stats out of it, he ll have 20 wkts in 9 games and all of sudden he looks a brilliant bowler. Eco, avg, S/r everything changes. Yes if there is a hint of turn u can think of including, but when turn on offer even jadeja runs ahead of him. Give jadeja some turn and we have seen wht he can do. My point is there is no reason to be even excited with his perfomance, as story would be diff overseas. The guy also doesnt have much of a future. velu and tweaker 2
