Too old

He is 26 year old. Isn't a basket ball player whose knees are dying every game he plays or a fast bowler in his middle 30s.

People have this crazy way of thinking that anyone who is around 28 years of age can or should never be picked. Fact is that even if someone comes and is fit around 30 years, he can easily give us at least 5-6 years. We should not belooking every thing for a long long term. 5-6 years is also a good long term if a player looks like fit enough to last that long.

Pujara,Rahane,Kohli all are in that 26-28 bracket.KL Rahul and Karun Nair are younger. Not to mention that Panchal avgs 43 in FC.He will never get selected in Team India.

Who cares if he never get selected in India or not. I have issue with statements like the one you made about him being too old because that is a ridiculous and sad mentality of people writing off players who are 28 or some year old. And Panchal being just 26 makes the statement even worse.

We need to support these guys. Sometimes, we can gain more out of these players as they are better to play at the highest level.Rohit Sharma is a proof of a talented guy who sucked in his late teens and early in his career. Even though he was fitter more back then, but with age Rohit has gotten much better and matured as a cricketer.

Yes he is too old in the Indian context. He avgs in low 40s and even if he has similar year the next 2-3 season he would be 30 by the time his avg touches 50.In India you are identified as an India prospect by the time you are 21-22 nd if you perform well enough you debut by thhe time you are 25-26.So yes he is old.

You are going by the past, people do not get picked for past performances. You go by what they are doing currently and he has improved as he is scoring tons of runs now.

We are out there with stats when a player averaging over 50 is failing all of a sudden and we mention how his average has dropped in recent years. Similar should apply for players who are going in opposite direction of their careers for better and have improved from their ordinary start.

Lol, so you just go by numbers that means without seeing bow the guy is doing. So people can be doing extremely good from last 2 years but because they do not have average of 50 because of their poor start, you would not pick then when they are playing extremely well. Lol. Good joke.

The fixiation with the age 21-22 is just crap or may be crap is not the word. I think itnis sad that you think that way.
