With the amount of energy Kohli spends on the field and off it.. will he be able to handle all the three formats? If no..Then who should captain the T20 side? sourab10forever Posted January 4, 2017 Author Posted January 4, 2017 If Kohli is given the option to choose (which is likely the case) he will probably go for all 3 given his aggressive attitude and wanna-be-the-boss nature (not saying that it is bad) . But is it ideal that Kohli gets all 3?

I want Kohli to be the captain in tests and ODIs ....and someone else to be the captain in T20Is. We should show long term planning with respect to captaincy. Also has the risk of draining kohli and as a result losing interest in the game very much like dhoni. kosingh Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 I am usually against having the same captain in all three formats, but Kohli seems to relish captaincy, and perform even better as captain. It does not seem to stress him, but rather propels him even more. So yes, i do think Kohli would be fine captaining all formats. In any case if he is playing all formats, he will be the unofficial leader in all formats, whether or not he is the official leader. So why not just make him the official leader.

Dhoni won us the world cup. The problem was we did not move on from Dhoni in time, not that we created Dhoni. MCcricket and Forever Indian 2

bowl_out Posted January 4, 2017 Posted January 4, 2017 Rohit as T20 captain makes sense.. He did a good job with Mumbai Indians.. But I'd like him to bat down the order in the T20 line up, and play the middle order + finisher role.. He's done well batting at 3/4 for MI AuxiliA 1

It has never been since Ganguly days where Indian captain is looked as the leader of the side who takes all important decisions (including players selection). He is someone whom players respect, obeys and listens. Unlike other teams, the job of Indian coach is pretty limited. Its the captain who is the main guy.Hope Kohli continues the same tradition and become the leader of Indian cricket team (irrespective of format). How he runs the team, what players he prefers & what is his strategy its all upto him. Multiple captains is a modern day cricket gimmick and it never worked in Indian cricket. It didnt work when Kumble was our test skipper and MSD in LOIs. It didnt work when Kohli was our test skipper and MSD in LOIs. Atleast we knew those periods were temporary transitional shifts but giving someone a permanent captain job for a specific format? Big no no. mancalledsting Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 Make him captain of all three- but rest him for unimportant ODI/t20 matches and temporarily hand over the reigns to your ideal next captain. Will give kohli rest and help groom backup/next captain
gattaca Posted January 5, 2017 Posted January 5, 2017 The thing is their is no BCCI president and board currently to call shots now. Who is going to make a call to appoint a captain ? I guess we all are missing this point.
