Pant(Wk) Kohli Rahul Raina Dhoni-Only as batsman Mandeep Pandya Rasool Chahal Bhuvi Bumrah I see it differently. Pandya against good bowlers at their best at death will actually struggle more. Don't think he is a brilliant hitter down the line as people make it out to be. I think since we are developing him as an all rounder and see if he can hit, he can come in around the time when spinners are bowling or when Kohli is anchoring the innings in the middle and he can try to go for his shots from the other end. England death bowling is good. Probably too good for Pandya at this time. tweaker 1
WeStMiDz Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 Pandya needs to learn to hold his shape when hitting quick bowlers. This will only come with experience. At the moment he neither has a solid base nor is watching the ball closely enough against quicks which is leading to a lot of plays and misses or edges.
Texan Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 1. Mandeep 2. Pant 3. Kohli 4. Rahul 5. Raina 6. Pandey 7. Pandya 8. Rasool 9. Bhuv 10. Bumrah 11. Nehra Not really a fan of Mandeep's but since we have picked him in the squad we should play him ahead of our vintage oldies.

MK55 Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 Replace Pandey with Pant, Nehra with BK and Rasool with Mishra. Never trusted Pandey with hitting and Yuvraj at even this stage of his career could do a better job than him. Open with Pant, get Rahul at no 4. Even with these changes England's a far better side both in bowling and power hitting. Yuvraj, Raina and Pandya vs Morgan, Butler and Stokes . Pace bowling is also superior with their bowlers managing to get extra pace and bounce. express bowling and Mosher 2

He isnt watching the ball in attempt to hit too hard. he should rememeber he has enough power, so, needs to concentrate timing and plaing proper shots, not slogs. Mosher 1

SRT100 Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 As an Indian I am in "tears" about the way the selection of players is being handled. Living in Australia, this kind of bullshit would never happen where a good young player was overlooked. As I see it, its a cultural issue where the older guys are supporting one another and preventing younger kids from getting into the team because they know that they will cement their place in the team if given a decent chance. Lets face it most Indian cricketers are thinking of themselves ahead of the country. In theory I am fine with that, in that you have to look after yourself and your family first. This is not war. However, its the spineless selection committee that needs to be shot. For example, we all know why Binny was selected in the team despite failure upon failure. It got rather embarrassing towards the end. I pray for 0-3 whitewash so that the selection committee come under scrutiny for their selections. King Kohli is on drugs, they were not 30 runs short on the 26th, India needed a solid 200 to defend.

Even in T20 match against WI, Dhoni lost us that game single handedly. Rahul scored a 50 ball 100 in that game chasing 245 and Dhoni could not put bat to ball against Bravo. Dhoni is the biggest panauti.
Bigg Brother Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 Rahul scored brilliant hundred 2 t20 matches ago.. Someone who hasnt scored a fifty after 10 years needs to be discarded..

sandeep Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 Give Pant and Pandya license to go for it. Let VK and Dhoni consolidate if needed. IIRC Dhoni sent in Pandya in top 5 in the SL T20s, did well too.
kosingh Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 Each of the oldies has a somewhat convincing reason to be selected, but there's no reason to select ALL oldies. Nehra was outstanding in the last international T20 series he played- the T20 World Cup less than a year ago. Yuvraj showed that in the ODI series that he's back in form, and if we get even half the Yuvi that he was in his prime, he'll make a formidable batsman. Dhoni also had a century in the recent ODI series and his captaincy experience may be useful to a still learning Virat for a few months. All these reasons are good reasons. But like I said, there is no reason we need all three of these oldies. May be one of them. It is too just too defensive and risk averse. I don't see anything sinister behind their selections- no regional bias, no preference for buddies and no good ol'boys club scratching each other's back. Rather, I just see a overly defensive mindset and reluctance to go through the long and often frustrating period of finding new blood. Cricketics 1

Dhoni was always good in ODIs, but struggled in T20s. sandeep 1

You have to try hard when you come down the order. Hence he needs to come up a bit to get a chance to hit. May be he needs to bat against spinners at time and need to play few extra deliveries before going for kill, so needs to come early so we can see if he can really replicate his domestic2020 game in international cricket. If he can't do it on regular basis, his days are numbered too in 2020, provided he is also bowling horribly in 2020, which he isn't yet, thankfully.
GautiMaan Posted January 28, 2017 Posted January 28, 2017 Lets be realistic, there's no way Yuvi is going to be dropped. Pant Rahul Kohli Raina Yuvi Dhoni Pandya Bhuvi Rasool Chahal Bumrah
