Malcolm Merlyn Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 So what was the point of Bhuvi Kumar in the team?Keeping Kuldeep and Jayant out of the side?Bhuvi did nothing in the test match. He is a liablity when the pitch or the conditions dont have anything for swing bowling. He isnt fast enough neither can he reverse the ball.He has looked the worst of the 3 pacers here, Mr.Kohli has tried to be oversmart and has been caught naked.May be he should learn and thing or two from Dhoni. sscomp32, kira, New guy and 4 others 7

Cricketics Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 The problem is that all you guys become "OH why didn't we try this" "why don't we have good seamers ever in our country" ..."why are we playing so negative" And "why we don't have pace bowling culture here"" and bla bla And here is a captain who is trying to take an opportunity to use fast bowlers on a placid track so they learn better as clearly Bangladesh is an easier team to try this ploy aginst than Australia, and people are still blaming Kohli of playing a seamer for spinner. Instead of appreciating, you are trying to kill a good thought. Kohli made a brilliant move by playing an extra seamer. beetle, Masquerade, Lord and 5 others 8
Sidhoni Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 (edited) Developing some culture or crap like that is the reason that is going to be brought up in this thread. Maybe it is more important to get in a pacer for the sake of it rather than getting in a better wicket taking option. Edited February 12, 2017 by Sidhoni

Let's ignore that seamers took the bulk of the wickets in first innings shall we? Let's ignore that kohli is focusing long term and building a team and seam attack for the future lets only focus on the narrow minded spin dependent mentality which has never helped us develop an all round seam attack and made us **** overseas

It's surprising right that a captain is thinking long term development of pacers instead of "process" right ?
Temujin Khaghan Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 no good decision to give him some warmup now... because he will not get a chance to bowl in test cricket until later this year... because we will play the 3+2 combo against aus and that means only umesh and shami will bowl.. so no harm done in giving a chance to ishanth and bhuvi i hope both of them bowl a lot in 1st class cricket before the gauntlet overseas series beings (sa-aus-eng-nz)

sandeep Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 Bhuvi outbowls Ishant on an unhelpful track - bowls more overs for fewer runs, same wickets, and but for a bit of DRS bad luck could have easily had another. Bowls 1/3 of his overs in the 1st innings for maidens - highest ratio among all the bowlers. But, he looks skinny and doesn't bowl "Phaast", so he's a waste of space. I bet you, same figures for Jayant Yadav, and usual suspects would be out saying how well he did his "support" job. Masquerade, Lord, New guy and 4 others 7

Mosher Posted February 12, 2017 Posted February 12, 2017 It was a good decision to go in with 3 pacers on this pitch. All of them chipped in with wickets and kept up the pressure. If our best spinners Ashwin and Jaddu struggled in the 1st innings don't think Jayant would have done anything better. Kuldeep would have got a game only if the pitch was a rank turner. express bowling, sscomp32 and beetle 3

There's 5 bowlers in the team. How many wickets did Ashwin take at Chennai against England? Bhuvi played his role decently in this test match. I did not watch his spell in the 2nd innings, but he was quality with the new ball in the 1st innings, could have easily picked up a couple of wickets then. And don't forget, he provided a badly needed break-through with the old ball on Day 4. Another hour or so of that partnership, and draw would have loomed a lot larger. If a 3rd spinner chips in with a wicket or 2, and keeps things tight, he's lauded. When your pacer does that, on a wicket that has zero help for him, he's bashed. Expectations fail. You are willing to target bk based on one innings but ignored umesh for 7 innings without a wicket before he even bowled ok in 1 or 2.
