velu
"If Dhoni wanted to carry on, he could have carried on. Clearly, I think he might have had too much of captaincy [burden]. I would have actually liked him to maybe give up captaincy and still stay in the team as wicketkeeper-batsman because his advice in the dressing room would have been invaluable. Maybe he thought that the best course for him was to not to be there," Gavaskar said on air, ahead of the start of day four's action. http://www.timesnownews.com/sports/cricket/article/ms-dhoni-shouldnt-have-quit-test-cricket-reckons-sunil-gavaskar-india-vs-south-africa-2nd-test-parthiv-patel-wriddhiman-saha/189573 Edited January 17, 2018 by velu Stuge, diga, adi B and 6 others 1 5 1 2 Link to comment

Dada's Army
No doubt Dhoni the keeper-batsman would've been better than any option we've had since. But really after that Aus series(2014/15), India has not left the Subcontinent for tests, so all that would've happened is that we'd have dominated more at home. We could've used him in this series though velu and Rasgulla 2 Link to comment

Straight Drive
Now that Dhoni is gone , his importance is realized. As a wicket - keeper batsman he was good. We had tried a lot before. Nayan Mongia, Saba Karim, Sameer Dighe. Dhoni was undoubtedly better than all of them as wicket keeper batsman. Only Mongia from that lot opened in ODI's and few tests. The rest were all middle order batters like Dhoni. Having said that he was the best over couple of decades, there is always a time to move on and it was good that we moved on.His IPL match fixing controversy shattered me. Never thought his name would crop up. This guy used to run so hard for singles, twos, dive to take catches etc and then you get a feeling what does his name has to do with all the crap of the controversy. It was time since then that such rumours should not hamper our international squad when we lose matches. Rasgulla and Peshust 2 Link to comment

Kohli is good at only one thing which is whining and getting penalised for bad behaviour. He isn't even half the captain Dhoni was in any of the formats. No doubt, kohli will take India to it's darkest times. The process has already started. He's on his way to become the first Indian captain to get whitewashed in southafrica. Abeyyy.... Dhoni has already taken us in the darkest phase ever in last 5years of his captaincy we are just recovering. adi B
Pathetic from sunny but expected from a bcci bootlicker. A team should always move on from it's past players and focus on nurturing young players but here these tools are going the opposite way Link to comment
