Horses for courses. Green on pitch & overcast conditions against this fragile line up means he wants to put us to play catch up in an hour or two.

But by taking this gamble he has failed to see the larger picture. A greedy pawn capture over looking long term strategic imbalance :aha:. We have enough compensation here.

2nd day->Overcast, rainy....we can force them to bat then if we show discipline today

Pitch brown and dry grass....Ashwin will enter the party later on

Our chasing prowess.....we are the worst 4th innings team in world cricket atm

Batsmen form/confidence....will be better if we bat with no scoreboard pressure

Still can't fathom the logic behind Root's decision, overconfidence? Or does ECB want a competitive test series? They have surrendered their pre-game advantage, LOL it's a bat 1st, win the match scenario.

When captain , never let opening bowlers champing at the bit cloud your judgement.

i dont think ashwin will be able to get any purchase as this pitch is seeming like lords pitch only...totally seem friendly.
