Mumbai Indians (The Wolves) 2019 Team Thread - Back with the "bang"

Recommended Posts

Y’day’s games probably showed that you need to stuff your side with match winners, who on their day will take the game away

Like what Pant said to Manju. His job is to up the RR (implying it is not take singles and twos with odd boundaries to maintain the RR to reach 150 odd)

In bowling, we have what we have so the best option is to become the batting monster. Play positive and free flowing cricket. Don’t worry about losing wkts if you have batting depth. Get those above par totals

Typical bambis

Will lose games while trying to play fair and then get desperate and engage in mass cheating

Bambis would be wooden spoon every year if not for cheating

Think about how they miraculously win games in 2nd half of season

WHen going gets tough, bambis buy umpires and broadcasters

ESPNcricinfo understands that Malinga is likely to be available for selection for Mumbai's next two matches, both away games - on March 28 against Royal Challengers Bangalore and on March 30 against Kings XI Punjab. Malinga is then likely to return to Sri Lanka to feature in the Super Provincial One-Day Tournament before rejoining Mumbai after April 10.

Malinga is back but considering he just landed, may not be fielded in the game vs RCB tomorrow .... MI should try the below:

Top 3 that can get off the block quickly and try to get big hits in the PPs

  • de Kock
  • Pandya - to try to get a 60 balls 100
  • Kishan / SKY

Steady 4-5

  • Rohit
  • Yuvi / SKY

Big-hitting 6-8

  • Pollard
  • Cutting
  • Krunal

Bowlers

  • McG
  • Markande / Chahar / Sran / Salam
  • Bumrah

  • Can also open with Lewis, who can be brought in place of Pollard / Cutting
  • Bowling looks relatively weak but it is about playing Cutting vs one more from Markande, Chahar, Sran and Salam on a good batting wkt
  • If Malinga can play, he can come in place of Cutting / Pollard

Mumbai's biggest mistake is sticking with pollard. He can win you one or two matches in season but that's it. Look at Russel or Gayle how consistently they have performed. Gayle almost 40. Russel plays as All rounder. Mumbai Let buttler go just because of pollard and i hope they get rid of him soon and find good consistent hitter for next ipl. I know it's good to have family kind of feeling which Mumbai does with their players but that way you can't get rid of dead weights as well.

We haven’t promoted Pandya since he started playing for us, what makes you think it will be different tomorrow. Pollard is to :mi: what thala is to the middle order in the Indian team: a pain in the ass.

I m saying we should try it .... if it works, great. If not, we still have a long batting line up :dontknow:

Gayle is a bonafide superstar. A 3rd tier ATG batsman across all formats. Could have achieved a lot more if not for T20 leagues.

Russell is a supreme athlete.

Pollard is a fat and useless  hack. The fact that he fires 2 times in 15 games is an attestment to that

Next game is on Saturday at Mohali. Starts at 6 30 AM EST     .... key point to consider:

  • Pollard vs Cutting vs Lewis vs another bowler

Additionally, what the team should improve is the ability to press on when the batsmen is firing all cylinders and the bowler is struggling. Some batsmen after they hit a 6, automatically play the next ball safely even if it is a full toss. Have to keep moving ahead much like how Yuvi went for 3 6s and how Pandya went all out

next game is vs CSK on 3rd at home .... have to rise like a Pheonix from here

try the below:

Lewis / Cutting

de Kock

Hardik

Rohit

Kishan

Yuvi / SKY

Krunal / Chahar

McG / ?

Markande / Chahar / ....

Bumrah

Malinga / ?

  • right now, de Kock appears to be only overseas player who can justify his place
  • don't know which other international players are going to join later on

Next game against our bunnies. See ya later. :finger:

Really check the records. We have knocked you off more times in the playoffs than vice versa. Sure you have a lead in the w/l ratio but not by much. Kuch bhi

if 2019 is going to be MI's yr, we will rise vs CSK :om:

even :sheep:and :deadhorse: will run like horses

stay tuned!

You will only win if you are 2-5 and "magically trying to come back". If S Ravi and nandan are umpiring :money:, then its a gone case

Following MI has been pretty depressing for past few years... :sad;

Can’t imaging what would’ve happened to MI fans if not for teams like RCB... When you look at RCB fans, you don’t feel that depressed...
