CG Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 Let's ask Murli Vijay. Vijay is not in ODIs anyway ,Dunno why Vijay will mind though Karthik new wife is beautiful.

I don't know if either of Yuvraj or Dhoni are so awesome at this point that they walk into the side unquestioned. Karthik has done enough to put some pressure on Manish Pandey and Kedar Jadhav as well. One thing's for sure. No more Rayudu in the ODI squad. Thanks be to Allah the awesome.
Lord Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 Just 9 matches lol though anyone is better than Rahane in ODIs
Cricketics Posted March 29, 2017 Posted March 29, 2017 On current form, yes, wouldn't mind sliding him into champions trophy squad even though it is hard for him to get a game. No harm in taking an experienced player to England. He knows the conditions there and is playing well these days.

Dhoni was top scorer of ODI+T20 combined against England. Also he is virtually a co-captain as was evident from that series. 2 hours ago, sarchasm said: Rayudu was anyway reserved only for peripheral bilaterals to maintain BCCI's political heft. I think the IPL would be a big audition for the couple of middle order vacancies. Only KLR, Kohli, Rohit, and Jadhav are certainties at the moment, I feel. How is Rahul a certainty for ODIs? And Dhoni, Bumrah, Jadeja, Shami(if not for injury), Bhuvi should be certainties too.

Just when I thought you made a legit argument that has no counter once...you say something like that

Afridi just fluked his way in that game and despite that everyone praised Virat's captaincy

I am sure you may be praising Dhoni for awesome captaincy for giving Joginder last over or bringing Ishant Sharma in crucial over in Champions trophy when he bowled crap throughout the game. These type of decisions look genius even if they are not if they come off and stupid if they don't. speedheat 1

Ashwin bowling the last over in a chase was a bad decision... You never want to bowl a spinner to Afridi / Yusuf pathan kind of batsman when you have one over left.. I remember Yusuf thrashed a spinner (Mendis I think) in a super over in some IPL match, when I was hoping go with a fast bowler for the super over.. They should have bowled out Ashwin early that match and had a quickie bowl the last over.. Ashwin bowling the last over in the champions trophy against England was still risky, but more calculated because you had 2 left-handed lower order batsmen playing..

I wouldn't say your argument is flawed. Personally I would never ever give a spinner last over defending not much. But that over from Ashwin wasn't bad. And trust me had it been a victory many would be praising Kohli for brilliant and bold move.

rkt.india Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 no, he is just a domestic legend like Wasim Jaffer. speedheat and SecondSlip 2
speedheat Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 That match was poor captaincy ,giving the last over to Ashwin against Afridi Says who??? Asswin was the best bowler of that contest and almost had it for us on that tiny MICKY MOUSE ground, that six of suckredi was a fluke would have been comfortably held on any other ground, its that duffer dk missed the easiest stumping and let the match off the hook even then kohli did really well to took it at last over kohlis only fault was that he gave easy single to Junaid khan in last over which lead sucredi to have strike other wise captaincy was spot on sandeep 1
CoverDrive Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Phenomenal run and if you consider domestic cricket as a serious stepping stone to national squad you have to get him on the radar. Definitely in contention. anyway we will see in IPL what he does against a higher level attack. If he has good start to IPL he will be in contention for sure
The Dark Horse Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Hell yeah. Cannot have different yardsticks for different players. Can play as a pure batsman.
horizonspeaks Posted March 30, 2017 Posted March 30, 2017 Yes he can as a batsman, and a slip fielder not a WK.
