Worth having a post dedicated to cataloguing the (mis)fortunes of Karun Nair.

Appears to have limited talent and few batting skills yet keeps on getting picked up by IPL teams and then playing ahead of better players. Has he ever scored any big runs in the IPL? And why does Uncle David keep on backing his selection?

Uncle David backed Sanju Samson for years, despite him not scoring anything significant for the Royals. Now Nair will get the same backing. We'll see if Sanju's century was a fluke and if Nair's triple was a fluke soon enough.

Samson will do good throughout this IPL. He is a touch and confidence player. If he is in good touch he would look very very good.If he is not he would look a headless chicken. He has decent range of shots, technique, elegance and temperament to succeed but the above statement will always remain true for him.

Yeah, hopefully he does well. Since he first started playing for the Royals regularly, everyone raved about his talent. This season could be his stepping stone to push for national selection in T20s.

The problem is all these guys Iyer,Nair & Samson have been mostly successful in IPL batting in top 3 batting slots & any lower they find it hard to make an impact in this format. And in process the man who deserves to play maximum balls is languishing at 5.This in gist is & will be double DD's problem throughout the season.

15 off 17 balls today. Promoted to open by Coach Dravid.

Played a few nice shots.  Not a bad player.  But is nowhere near his best.  And IPL T20 is a cruel spotlight to be under when you're not.

They are mixing Test and ODI.

Don't know what is the use of Nair in this DD side. A top t20 player Billings is dropped so that we can play extra bowler and can have Nair bat on top.

Absolute crap by DD.

I know you are going to be irritated as I bring this up again, but it still comes down to dropping Nadeem.

DD need to drop one of Rabada or Cummins, have Billings and bring in Nadeem (who has been DD's best T20 bowler).
