The top 10 cleanest cities in the country are Indore, Bhopal, Visakhapatnam, Surat, Mysuru, Tiruchi, New Delhi Municipal Council area, Navi Mumbai, Tirupati and Vadodara, respectively.

 

 

Honestly though, if we're second cleanest in the country I shudder to think of the state in the rest of the cities.

Chandigarh is the cleanest, these surveys are politically motivated, only a few cities in India can match or beat chandigarh in cleanliness and bhopal isn't one of them

Only central Delhi...the rank for 3 Delhi municipal corporations ranges between 170 to 270.

chandigarh may or may not be the cleanest no. 1 but way to many Gujarat cities in top 25. The list may be slightly politically motivated. Ranking officials wouldn't want to put guj. in the middle of the pack one might think.

I went to Indore recently.No way its cleaner than Chandigarh

 

but yeah Swachh Bharat Abhiyan drive is full on there

What's the basis of this rankings

it seems like results are based on surveying locals...surely the perception of someone living all their life in Indore will be different to someone living in Coimbatore 

 

if someone from Indore returns after living in Zurich for 5 years, and does the survey...their responses will be very different too

They should do ranking by using objective metrics: air pollution levels, access to clean water, length of sewage pipe per capita, paved roads per capita, etc

In the 90s Bangalore was one hell of a place, and so clean. With the population boom and heavy migration it has become a dumpyard.

Never been to Indore or Bhopal but the top 10 list sounds pretty genuine IMO. I heard good things about Vizag, Mysore, some cities in Gujarat and they seem to be clean when compared to other cities. Surprised Chandigarh is not there.
