Hardik Pandya could go down as one of the most accomplished Indian cricketer ever - Virat Kohli

While being pleased with the bench strength, Kohli seemed a lot more pleased about the balance brought about in the eleven by one particular player - Hardik Pandya. "He's a real asset to Indian cricket, I would say. It's very hard to find a guy who can almost touch 140 Ks and who strikes the way he strikes the ball, and he can bat through the innings as well. We saw that in the practice game. So if you give him 16, say 17 overs to bat, he can do that job for you as well," Kohli gushed.

 

 

"He's played a few good innings in the first-class circuit as well, really seeing off the new ball in testing conditions. So it's really hard to find people with that kind of ability. Once you have a player like that, you need to make sure that he's always committed, always motivated to give 100 percent for the team. That comes naturally to Hardik. So you don't need to motivate him any further in any other way.

 

 

"As I said, he's a real asset for Indian cricket, and people should appreciate his skill and what he brings to the table. A lot of people focus on a lot of other things with Hardik, which I don't think should be anyone else's problem. He has his own journey, and he's finding his own way. If he gets the kind of support that a player like him should get, I think he could go down as one of the most accomplished Indian cricketers in times to come. Because he's a fit guy. He's superb in the field, superb with the ball, brilliant with the bat. So as I said, very hard to find a guy like that, and the kind of balance he brings to the team is priceless. That was on display the other day," Kohli went on to add.

It wasnt untrue about irfan as well...........he was very good cricketer but he didnt work hard and noe one apart from irfan himself cant be blamed for that

The crapthan hype was appaling.  Back then I used to slaughter him on icf as simeply not good enough.  Please dont compare harick to Pathan.  Pathan was never a batsman and bowled lollipops

 HE tried to hard in intial years by changing his actions constantly

Post IPL, he stopped giving pref to domestic but always in time fit for IPL. His pace dropped big time means he hasnt been working hard on his fitness...... 

Not even an effort to try going county during off season.

 

Hid fielding also dipped a lot during last few yrs

 

IF he has started bowling 115-125k well that shows lack of hard work, its not even that he is 37 yr old ....

Yes, great to see that. Credit to actually to both Dhoni and Kohli. Both have been playing Pandya ever since he arrived on the scene. Dhoni too was good to him.

 

It is good that youngsters are shown faith by these captains.

But dhoni said there was no better allrounder than Binny.Clueless fellow. Doesnt want to give chance to others then say no other option. Only after Pandya made his way into the team he was supportive.

How would Dhoni about Pandya before he made his debut. Dhoni had Binny and R dhawan at his disposal and he found Binny better. Once Pandya came in, he played Pandya. Giving others a chance is not up to Dhoni or Kohli. It is up to selectors because captains dont know much about domestic players. They are captains, not talent scouts.

Giving others a chance is not up to Dhoni or Kohli. It is up to selectors because captains dont know much about domestic players. They are captains, not talent scouts.

Actually Kohli also said binny was best allrounder in India.

Cricketics bro is also a closet dhoni fanatic. Just trying to enrage him a bit.. If not for you he might have taken the bait.  . Loved the way he randomly brought dhoni into conversation.Though he is true that dhoni was supportive of Pandya, dhoni wasn't captain for a long time after he made into team.

But Dhoni gave him chance to open the bowling from his 1 st odi against NZ..He was very supportive of Pandya even when he was expensive.Kohli carried  the same strategy forward

But Pandya is no front line bowler even now. . That was an experiment and kohli looked at it in warmup game only. But would be very disappointed if he is used as a new ball bowler unless there is bounce and lateral movement. In any case, not disagree dhoni supported him.

Overreact much.   Selections are still not IPL driven, largely off of domestic performances.  Even Hardik made it to the Indian squad after totally dominating the Syed Mushtaq Ali trophy with his batting a couple of years ago.
