Popular Post veer Posted June 8, 2017 Popular Post Posted June 8, 2017 Interesting Stats i looked it up for this match.. and its an eye opener Number of dots/Number of ball faced = Percentage Rohit = 38/79 = 48 Dhawan = 61/128 = 48(more than 10 overs) Yuvi = 11/18 = 61 Dhoni = 22/52 = 42 Total Dots in entire innings = 142 That's more than 23 overs.. I really thought we got better at this.... chewy, JaFanatic, Ankit_sharma03 and 11 others 14
Ankit_sharma03 Posted June 8, 2017 Posted June 8, 2017 In contrast how much dot balls did SL play??????
beetle Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Someone should send this info to the Team India management.
StriKe Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 I have even said this we are having too many dot balls against Pakistan too.. People are happy with 40/0 at 10 overs. Because we can accelerate in the end if we have wicket in our hand so we end up playing more dot balls upto 35th over. Initial 10 overs with two fielders outside, You're supposed to attack and take much run as possible - Simple rule. Last 10 overs, You got 5 fielders outside and we scored 100+ in that but in other thread people are thinking it is way too low

MCcricket Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 The most pertinent point dot balls, means a potentially higher total was compromised by guys who had a good start to work with, In the end Dhonis innings looked ok but her wasted quite a few, so do Yuvi, minimizing dot balls is what's required to achieve killer score which teams like Eng, Aus , SA have done better then India who look to play the old way.
BeautifulGame Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Once we used to be the best at strike rotation. Now we completely suck at it. sandeep and Yoda-esque 2
tweaker Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 There were 23 dot balls in 1st 5 overs of the innings.
mishra Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 Come on guys. Yes that stat can improve but we still are good side, good enough to lift the trophy
Sandeep99 Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 As expected... Indian batting will always be found wanting in the 1st innings against better teams. If only India converted at least 30 of those dot balls to singles, we would have won!

The reason why our openers play so cautiously (i.e dot balls)is because apart from Kohli there is no batsman who gives confidence. 1. Yuvi. Lacks confidence and hence far too slow to start inning. Batting Momentum is completely lost for first 6-7 overs once he walks in 2. Pandya. Still a unknown quantity. He needs some more innings before top order/team can start relying on him 3. MSD. He is not same old. Everyone knows it. He needs support 4. Jaddu. He is slowly turning out to be a better version of Lala. Almost as much unreliable as a Pakistani batsman

Apart from Kohli no one gives confidence ? This is blame reason to give. We had great warm-up match and awesome team performance against Pakistan. This is more than enough to attack in initial PP overs. I have seen so many ODIs where Rohit style of batting in PP is ''block" or "six". Rotate the strike and take single like Kohli. This will put more pressure on opposite team.

Lot of difference between 320 and 350.
StriKe Posted June 9, 2017 Posted June 9, 2017 1 1 4 1 0 1 = 8 runs 0 0 0 6 0 0 = 6 runs I would happily take 8 runs/over than six/over

I don't know how many dot balls SL played, but they were chasing a sub par total. The bar had aready been set low by India. We batted first and gave them the luxury of being afford to play dot balls while chasing a non-intimidating total. A better question would be, "how many dot balls would SL have played had they batted first on this track?" Or, an even better question is, "had SL had India's batting riches but not India's approach, how many dot balls would SL have played had they batted first on thie wicket?" Yuvis lack of confidence is down to his age. he knows that he is blocking a place. We need a solid batsman there, Pant Pandey Aiyar, Samson list is long. Problem is instead of 5 specialist batsmen, We have just 3. Remaining two are Yuvi and Jadhav. If top 3 has the confidence in the remaining 2, Story wont be that bad. Since Kohli is playing these 2, I am sure somewhere he is at fault. Instead of Yuvi, He should be pepping up and banking Jadhav. jadhav is not being used at all.
