Bowling Kedar Jadhav was MS Dhoni’s idea, reveals Virat Kohli

It's job of senior player more so a wicketkeeper to provide inputs , Final call rests on captain if jhadav was hammered he would have to take the blame .

Dhoni's issue was using part timers too much and having defensive fields.

Kohli is more aggressive usually although can sway towards the defensive side like the SL game and some parts of the Bangladesh game.

But Kohli is more willing to be balanced and evolve when he loses. Thats why dhoni is important, need to learn how to use part timers occasionally.

This nous and cricketing street smarts is the reason I wanted Dhoni in the team along with Pant. Hopefully Kohli learns and improves by 2019 WC

It's a knack to bring the right bowler at the right time and Dhoni has mastered it. One of the best captains in shorter formats in world cricket and a true legend :hatsoff:

You seem to be short on comprehension as well.

Its not the suggestion, but the line and lengths that helped, and that is where MSD'a advice probably helped .If you see the first wicket, you would see how animated Dhoni was .Apparently there was a plan that was devised and it worked.

What would a troll know who think hafeez is a good batsmen

True captain gives credit instead of stealing it. Hats off

We gave full credits to sachin in AC... don't you worry about that.

Hey let me see. Your main bowlers have already bowled 6 and 5 overs respectively. Your two main spinners and the 3rd phaast bowler is going for runs. Yuvi cant bowl. Hey let me try something new. Yeah lets try Jadhav. You want a cookie for that suggestion which pretty much everyone else even if they have never watched cricket in their lives could suggest :cantstop:

I mean yeah if Dhoni suggested some different field placings or something he deserves credit but this seriously.

India needs 5 specialized bowlers with Pandya. It could be Umesh or Shami. EVery other team had 5 specialized bowlers even BD.

Kedar and Kohli too bowled against srillanka to cover up overs of jadeja instead of taking wickets we went defensive and had to loose the game.We need to look for wickets taking bowlers like kuldeep yadav instead of depending on luck.

Yup the bigger issue is that we have toothless bowling in the middle overs. Jadeja can be excused against Lanka because his wife was giving birth but what about last match. He was doing really bad until Jadhav took a wicket. So Jadejas figures are a bit deceiving. Same for Ashwin. We need to look for wicket taking options rather than all this containing crap. We have enough of those.

Look for many reasons I don't like Dhoni.

But you need to appreciate the guy is really helping a lot.

Haven't you guys heard his instructions to bowlers continuously (as a WK). Lol the other day he was even advising Chiku (pet name of Kohli)

"Chiku, ye aage khelega, thora peeche rakh ke dalna..."

"Chiku isko bahar khikana..."

Similarly he advices Kedar too...

As long as he's helping team to win, why bother?

Atkeast he's not behaving like Hafeez who's body language tells that he wants Sarfaraz to fail...

So Dhoni suggested to use a 6th bowler because the 5th bowler was a weak link and leaking runs....Genius!!!

Advice of the day-"Save your Money"

I better see a shrine for me on ICF for giving such a valuable and unselfish life related advice to all ICF folks

did you hear what jadav had to say about Dhoni's suggestion was that tactical enough for you? do you have some other 'not a valuable suggestion' 'stating the obvious' whinge angle on that too.

Disgusting Dhoni hate in the forums, not neutral.

Well this is as expected. Kohli has an excellent mentor in Dhoni since yrs now, but at the end of the day its Kohli who has to lead. This group of players are all experienced and have learnt and improved playing continuous cricket since last 5 yrs or more. They are bound to be good. Hope Kohli can go 1 level up from Dhoni and win multiple ICC tournaments. Winning championships is the toughest thing and we certainly have the fire power with these group of players for next few years.

Dhoni is one of the greatest limited overs Captain ,cricket has ever had.

Nothing surprising that MSD is guiding and helping out Kohli a lot .Kohli is still very new to Captaining is shorter formats anyway.

It's Kohlis greatness that he is acknowledging Dhoni's contribution.

It's MSD's greatness that he keeps helping the team and Kohli out instead shutting himself up after stepping down as captain.

The great thing is that there is zero ego and great understanding between Kohli and Dhoni.

As long as Indian cricket benefits ,that's all what matters.

Kohli already said this during the SL game that bowling Kedhar was dhoni's idea :dontknow:

A keeper does have inputs and sets the fields and also gives feedback to the bowlers. And in Dhoni we have a ex captain so obviously it is great to have such input.   I like that Kohli and Dhoni are able to have such a symbiotic relationship on the field..shows both of their maturity.  Dhoni can guide and put forth his inputs and Kohli will learn .  Good for the team morale.

This is expected from a senior player who has captained his entire career. No special service dhoni is providing which needs to be hyped and used as a token to take away credit from real captain. If a new comer is given captaincy and there is a senior player in the team with vast experience he would always guide the younger one. This is usual stuff. Not a trend that dhoni alone is setting.

You said they usually help with their inputs so feel free to post articles how seniors helped him with captaincy...
