R Ashwin hurts his knee before final

Just 24 hours before their match against Pakistan in final of Champions Trophy 2017, Indian ace spinner Ravichandran Ashwin hurts his knee during fielding practice. Nature and extent of injury is not known and it looks like this will be confirmed only after the toss.

 

 

Ashwin was hit in the knee at fielding practice, he has a big ice thingy on it. Looks ok.

Yadav/Shami in for Ashwin will be a blessing in disguise for us, Ashwin has looked out of sorts in the few matches hes played so far, KeJa has been more effective than him with his wily action.

Ashwin overthinking sometimes, he was running in like a drunken Shaolin maybe it's a ploy, but I dunno why he doesn't bowl to his strengths, coz he is good, also he needs to turn the ball more so he can be effective on tracks like those n in SA, Aus

Last time we played 4 seamers in Oval, Srilanka chased 30 with ease.And It's Shami would be drafted in straight for the final anyway .So it's better to stick with Ashwin.

 

Goerge Dobell in his Cricinfo video mentioned that Ashwin later bowled in the nets and Kohli apparently said same XI anyway.

He has been poor on flat pitches for a long while. If he was not dropped then, why do you think he will be dropped now ? Some players have a free pass in this team irrespective of their performance. Rahane is another one.
