What does he have to offer? Is he tactically brilliant?.Is he powerful enough to make selection desicions? Does he have a great technique to help batsmen, bowlers etc?

Only thing conclusive is he is a yes man. When has ever in the history of the world a Yes man has been beneficial?

We should see how much effort being to put  to improve skills , effort put in in devising strategy  to counter oppositions,

A vision to build pool  by coach .

Can we say we saw same kind of effort by Shastri  was put in as compared to AK?

In one year i think there was quire a few steps taken to build a pool, co ordination between selectors, senior team management , junior     team coach , bring prospective juniors to be part of test team  to gain  experience and practice etc.

More discipline   re: injured players and  their recall back only after playing first cricket .

Trying to promote meritocacy in selection .

I remeber Shastri  for  the famous one liner -  we will play fearless cricket !

Not sure did it mean fearless for opposition teams about india team ?

Same can be said for many coaches who have coached for different countries.

I am not Ravi Shastri fan, but I don't think he will be a simple "yes captain, sure" kind of guy. He will surelygive his inputs on selections and makenit happen.

Also, team might feel good under him. At the end of the day, we want players to be playing without under pressure. Thisnis what was happening in John Wright's tenure and Kiesten's tenure. If players can play without pressure and jell well under Shastri, then I am fine.

Though my first choice would be Tom Moody like I have said but I really don't care who becomes at this time.

On one hand Kumble came up with an actual presentation of a road map of where he sees the Indian team in a few years while Ravi Shastri was vacationing in Thailand and interviewing on Skype

Kumble apparently typed up notes and did analysis for each player and approached the game in a scientific manner while on the other hand we have a guy whose science knowledge stops at the alcohol % in his beer and how well his steak should be cooked .

So no I won't pick Shastri over Kumble as coach for a professional team and getting paid a million $$$ just because he is funny, likes to party and friendly with the team.

If Kumble is not a good man manager than pick someone else who approaches his job like Kumble does with better man management skills but it is ridiculous to even think of a guy like Shastri

^^ Fun loving guy, likes to party and gets along with everyone should be profile of someone on Tinder who is going through mid life crisis and looking to pick up chicks....that is not the resume of a coach of a professional sporting team

Yes those were his good points but pretty much all coaches do that now days, like the ones England hire etc.

Now whatever happened between Kohli and Kumlbe we don't know but a new coach doesn't have to do all the things which Kumble was doing.

For example if we hire Moody or Mcdermott or anyone, I just want someone to lead India to success. Do it whatever style they want. Whether hire extra people to talk about batting or bowlin etc, but get the job done is what we want eventually. So if Ravi can do that, its fine, and if he can't then he can also eff off.

Moody is my favorite for the job and I hope he gets it somehow. I really thing he seems to be like John Right who can lead us to success and more in this current era.

Shastri cannot be coach.

He can just be a manager or :blink:director.

manager is fine but what the hell director does in Indian Cricket, there are so many posts in Indian system for no reasons :) Almost reminds of a tech companies which have supervisors, and then director, then head director, all doing same crap

Lol I say fire Kohli too and make Mishra Captain, he came before Dhoni and Virat and has more experience.

Let Legend Mishra lead with Sharabi Tond Waala Ravi Shastri as coach.. God Bless Indian Cricket then

Since there is basically no qualification required to be a coach and nothing much to do anyways with respect to game, why not make Sachin be given that role. Surely Kohli or anybody else will ever say anything or treat him badly. Also he can mentor new guys and keep a check on everyone. Easy pay, less tension, no work, just mentoring n keeping check.

Sachin doesnt appear to have either the willingness or the ability to coach at any level.

Since we all have come.to know of the real scenario,.a coach does not need to have any coaching abilities. Players will manage themselves as they always do and for smaller jobs like throwdowns n all, there are assistant coaches and trainers as well. So coach is just like honorary position now, a formality. And nobody in this country( Virat or anybody) would dare to speak against Sachin or disrespect him like kumble. He can take the position and be a manager who will bring things under control. Obviously he is not willing for it and this is just hypothetical.

I feel in our team setup, we dont need head coach. Rather a manager type person to keep things under check is good enough. Coaching and other stuff is mostly handled by assistant coaches( batting, fielding) and trainers. And I am sure we have bunch of them already helping the players always.

Shastri should be the coach. At least that will get him off the comm box/ presentation party.

Well there is always a mute button if he is commentating. So,that gives the public some amount of control over him, but if he is left to run amok in the dressing room ,that is a state of helplessness.

since it's decided that it is "either" or "or" ,I rather have him stick to commentary.
