Not bowling Pandya for a single over is baffling.

Kohli doesn't want Pandya to grab his friend rohit's place. inspite of sending him at no8 he still managed a glittering 50 and if he picks a wicket or two that will be the end of Rohit sharma's test career.

He would have played Rohit if that was the intention.

Trying to get an extra an over in before lunch . Worked . Good tactic

It is not about the quantity of overs but the quality of overs

Pandya was targeting the stumps consistently and getting a little bit of reverse swing.... looked like getting a wicket anytime

Just a tactical decision to get one more over in . You may disagree with it . But was actually nothing to do with how pandya Bowled just about the extra over in .  Fair enough imo

Kohli's captaincy looks a bit like Dhoni's, at least today: solid attacking fields for spinners, more defensive for pacers.

He did what Dhoni would have done...Took batting without enforcing follow on .

There is no need to be aggressive without any reason. Not following on was the right decision. Kohli has been excellent as a test captain. His selections have been good.On field captaincy is good. Bowling changes (or lack of it) at times can be better.  Overall :two_thumbs_up:

In my 21 years of watching Cricket I have never seen a captain follow the ball so much. With 550 to defend he places a long on as soon as Jaddu is hit for a boundary there, then a square leg as soon as Ashwin is hit for boundary there. Even BCCI payroll Sunny Gavaskar saying Kohli as 'Follow the ball Captain'.

I wonder how Kohli is going to set field in SA/Eng/NZ etc when the opposition gets on top.

Since india is winning due to the incompetence of opponents, his captaincy doesn't get much attention but this will haunt us in overseas tours. ULTRA defensive and follow the ball captain.

So England and Australia are incompetent? Wow now I've heard everything. He hasn't even toured overseas yet and he's already a better captain then his predecessor. So Enjoy these great times. :cheer:

Yes. In asia they are incompetent. England showed that very well. Against Aus we lost due to our errors, they did nothing special. Also I forgot one match. The only match he was really impressive was bangalore test and i thought he finally learned how to captain but that was a one off. Back to chase the ball captain.

AND IF YOU REALLY WANT IT THEN HERE YOU GO "KOHLI IS A **** CAPTAIN. "

GET THIS FRAMED AND POST EVERYWHERE.

P.S. Obsession is unhealthy . Visit a doctor.

Looks like you're the one obsessed here. Kohli is already a better captain then Dhoni. He's not perfect but you dont need to be to be better than Dhoni.

We got our asses handed to us by England in 2012. Guess who was the genius captain then? England have always given us fits even in India. England were better than Australia but we were playing for so long and Australia came in fresh. They embarassed us in the 1st test but we came back very strong. Even in Sri lanka in 2016, not many teams come back from a 1-0 deficit but under Kohli we did. If you have a hard time to digest this fact, then I cant help you. Enjoy more burnol.

And add to that we have never beaten SA in a series under Dhoni, be it home or away. Its still a mystery how he managed to survive as a player in Test cricket for so long, let alone lead the team.
