jf1gp_1 Posted July 1, 2017 Posted July 1, 2017 (edited) 3rd ODI against WI , watched middle overs of the game when kuldeep yadav and hardik were bowling. It was clear Dhoni was captain, Kohli was just another player. This has been going on since CT. Kohli is leading this side the guy either starts showing up or drop Dhoni if he cant control him. True. Kohli does change playing eleven a lot in tests but in ODI where dhoni is an influence, he is hesistant. Ineteresting coincidence. Kohli needs to either captain all alone with just some inputs from dhoni or not captain at all. Laaloo, Rasgulla, express bowling and 1 other 2 2

Ineteresting coincidence. Very true. Kohli looks an aggressive captain in test matches, choosing all the right players and changing the playing 11 as and when needed. He looks a completely different captain in ODIs.... conservative with his team selections and much more rigid. I too wonder whether Dhoni's presence is just a co-incidence ! Tactically kohli doesnt even look good in test yes the attitude is diff. His captaincy has been questionable in short format be it ipl to.....there is no dhoni. Dhoni was the one to drop yuvraj n kohli bought back To me the problem with kohli in loi is he has to many notions taking over his instincts. Dhoni was gr8 with it....he was someone who was gr8 reader of the game and situation. He took instinctive decsion that mighy not make sense but worked something i use to see with sourav alot. They both use to use part timer to gr8 effect due to their strong instintcs but sonner pressure n fear took over it. Kohli is a lot text book that y it works in test cricket. He falls for reputation more then allowing his instincts .....so i dnt expect a kohli to take a joginder sharma call . Even selecting player dhoni knew when the time for many players like dravid, ganguly, yuvraj , gambhir, sehwag was over. Kohli still beilves in repuation which is why bhajji made a comeback on ipl perfomance into. test. Even yuvraj selection in both indian n rcb team. Or take his selection of watson or gayle despite signs of them being over their gr8 time last yr only. He generally doesnt go for something diff when things are not working specially part timer. He has a hesitation to take newcomer take an example of kuldeep or even now pant. Dhoni didnt take much time with pandya n didnt even fear of giving him a new ball. Making rahane open is another xample and he wants to use hin floater whereas dhoni mentioned in pc thag rahane tends to struggle in middle. Also in finals there was nerveous energy that was felt even during ganguly era.....which i beilve comes from captain. Didnt feel that with dhoni and even that was one thing that impressed me about sarfraz. Sometimes even i feel our strategy is similar to team before 2015, but that doesnt mean its dhoni influence as it cud be virat wants to follow same roadmap. Had it been dhoni influence he wud have said identify ur youngsters and give them 80-90 games before wc something he beilved it. Its kohli trying to be dhoni by his own thought process. He shud rather stick to being himself and allow his instincts to take over his pre concived notions Now they both have their strength and weekness but may be kohli strength work better in test and dhoni odi. Test cricket gives u time to comeback , loi is short time so quick calls, risky calls comes in play and thats were i feel captain with strong intutions do well. Dhoni captaincy was post his expiry date long back and i was very vocal for kohli as capatain in loi to but till now strategically he has disappointed in loi front. I beilve rathed dhoni its his value for reputation thats affecting his future vision. sscomp32, Shunya and Jimmy Cliff 3

They both have played every test after that, if fit, while Dhawan has been dropped from the test team. That test match selection was a mistake which was rectified, but people like you keep harping on about that, ignoring the fact that we have won 7 test series in a row, which has never happened before. More than half the people in ICF did not want to play Kuldeep in tests, because Jayant Yadav was delivering as an all-rounder. sarcastic, Mosher, Laaloo and 1 other 3 1

Vijay was undropable at that point , he was a better tests bat than virat himself . That's just criminal and may have ruined vjs career who was really peaking at that point have done all the hard work on tough tours . It's not about one or 10 games , the fact that he could even think that rohit could replace vj makes me not trust him . Either he is dumb or got an agenda , both not good . Same case with pujara . Well we haven't played overseas yet , isn't that all what matters for some of you ? So we have done jack under him beating some really weak teams at home . It doesn't matter what some here in icf think , the point is he was reluctant to pick a young talent. Now tell me what are these brilliant selections hes done with dhoni not around ? Correcting his own stupid mistakes don't count Which new face have we seen in the test team lately ? sscomp32 and The Dark Horse 2
