Pant deserved to play all 4. Doesn't matter if he drops dhoni yuvi dhawan kedar or even himself. The question is who was yesterday's culprit...agree that Kohli should have given pant a chance but that cannot be said to have impacted the game in large way. Dhoni largely and then the rest of the batsmen were the culprits. Link to comment

Make it interesting for the viewers by taking a game into the last over like always. Then you at least have a fair shot at being called as a finisher again. Haarkarjeetgaye
Nobody wants to accelerate in our team. Or they don't know how to do it. Blame lies with openers and decreases with the batting order. That is the issue with our batting and that will be the reason why lower order rarely gets tested. Nor do we push the lower order up. Link to comment

Your posts does have a very strong bias against Dhoni but I'll answer in point form to keep it concise. When Chasing 180 odd runs to win , You do not need much intent , The only way you will lose the game is if you lose wickets and that's we did. How did Dhoni ensure that game is not won ? Are you accusing Dhoni of match fixing ? Because I do not see any other reason how Dhoni could have prevented anyone from winning. Did Dhoni ran everyone else out ? Did dhoni stole everyone else's bat and cricketing brain for that matter that they forgot how to bat ? This is a team game , you do not need excellence when chasing 180 - even semi-par performance could win the match - Dhoni scored close to 35-40% of the score himself , if the rest of 10 batsman could not score 60 % of the remanining score , how is that Dhoni's fault ? Atleast sound logical sscomp32 1 Link to comment

Atleast sound logical You do not need intent?? Dhoni by playing at a strike rate of 40 in the middle overs shows that there was no intent to win. If Dhoni hadn't wasted so many deliveries then the match would have never come down to run-a-ball in the last few overs. When a batsmen has played a 114 off the 300 balls you expect him to score enough runs and not put pressure on the tail enders. He should have finished the game or at least left the team in a good position when he departed. Dhoni is a senior player. He is the "Greatest finisher India has ever seen". He should have understood the game situation. There was no need to play flamboyant shots. Just get 4 rpo on consistent basis. He was defending full toss deliveries. No Indent. When Dhoni can't hit even 70-80 off the 114 balls he faced after being in a long partnership with rahane..how can you expect ppl like pandya,Jadhav and Jadeja to score at a run-a-ball or more than that ? It's simple.- had Dhoni played with even a little bit of intent we would have never put pressure on the lower order. This target should have been chased inside 35-40 overs after Dhoni and Rahane spent so much time in the middle. Dhoni was playing like he was the last recognized batmen remaining. To lose by 11 is a disgrace. Dhoni is the culprit. That's what logic sounds like. Can't expect that from you since you are deep into Dhoni bhakti. GoldenSun and sscomp32 1 1 Link to comment

Atleast sound logical Dhoni scored 50 odd which means he scored around 27% of runs needed to win the game but he did that by playing around 38% of the balls, just about 33% of the balls were played by Rahane too who scored 30% of the runs required to with the game. Dhoni had a very difference between runs scored and balls faced, about 10-11% roughly. It put lower order from Jadhav to Pandya and Jadeja in under serious pressure to score runs at 100 SR from get go on a pitch where the other batsman is scoring at less than 50 SR. Gambit
Dhoni fans should ask themselves this: Is this the Dhoni they became a fan of? Are they satisfied with how he's batting now? Do they feel Dhoni's batting now (no boundaries in 100 balls) is better than what a Pant can do? If Rahane or Rohit Sharma had played this knock, would they have defended him with as much gusto? Why has this great finisher failed in numerous T20s and ODIs, especially in the recent past? Once they introspect, they will find their self and their blind fandom melting away. To lose by 11 is a disgrace. Dhoni is the culprit. That's what logic sounds like. Can't expect that from you since you are deep into Dhoni bhakti. Let's break it down so hopefully I'll get my point across better . So as an International team you are chasing 180 odd score against a team like WI - the RRR is around 3.5 , The only way you will lose the match is if you were to lose many wickets and your batting order collapses. I hope you are with me until here. Now what do you mean Intent ? Intent is when you are chasing 350 like against Pak in CT final - you need to keep the ante up and score at 5-6 runs per over and not lose wickets. When you are chasing 180 you do not need to come with an intent to bat aggressively , you could score 100 runs in 30 overs and still the game isn't over. Now onto your personal agenda on Dhoni. Dhoni is primarily a wicket keeper , He is not a batsman. His job regardless of how many times he's saved for this fame of an Indian batting lineup is not to win matches with his bat. He still has done it numerous times. Looking at the scorecard Dhoni Scored - 54 runs in 114 balls. In a score chasing 178 , he scored 54 runs thus 28 % of runs and used 38 % of balls , How is that bad ? Your famed batting line up , who's job it is to win the game did not even go into double figures ! Dhawan 5 , Kohli -3 , Karthik - 2 . Why are you blaming Dhoni ? The second coming of Kapil Dev - Pandya scored at SR of 90 , how useful was that ? Had Dhoni scored a 30 ball 30 and gotten out , do you think there would have been a better chance to win ? The whole team would have been bundled less than 150 ! Do not focus on Why Dhoni can't hit 70-80 , that's not his primary job ! He is trying to save the inadequacy of your horrendous and overhyped batting line up of Kohlis and Dhawans. No decent line up would be using a primary wicket keeper coming 4th or 5 down to chase 178 against WI .. Your focus is so much on Dhoni's flaws and lack of "intent" that you are taking for granted the fact that he got the team even that close to the target which if he had played as stupidly as the famed top order , the game would have been done by the 30th over Edited July 6, 2017 by bleaf27 Link to comment

It put lower order from Jadhav to Pandya and Jadeja in under serious pressure to score runs at 100 SR from get go on a pitch where the other batsman is scoring at less than 50 SR. The correct math is he scored 28 % of the total runs needed. Let's keep Rahane out of this as people are attacking Dhoni due to their personal disliking of a player and lack of logic. So Dhoni scored 28% of runs needed in 38 % of balls. Are you telling me that a wicket keeper - Despite his good aervage and ability to bat he isn't your top order batsman - Your famed million making Dhawan/Karthik/Pandya/Rahane/Kohli could not combined together score 72% of runs remaining in 62 % of balls left. Taking apart Dhoni's contribution - 10 players of the team had to score 136 runs from 186 balls which includes 4 primary batsman ! Had Dhoni batted as stupidly as Kohli and Dhawan and got out for 6 or 7 runs , no one would be complaining - but he stuck around and tried to get as close - people are losing their minds. Dhoni was wrong and big reason of loss but he wasnt the ONLY reason as some people are making out to be. Thats where the problem lies. Some people are hell bent that DHONI and ONLY DHONI was the reason for the los.. That's why they get the reply which snowballs into a bigger issue. Ankit_sharma03 1 Link to comment
