the don Posted October 29, 2017 Posted October 29, 2017 (edited) Hardik is a handy cricketer but i doubt his bowling is polished enough to be the 3rd seamer in a 3 man pace attack . I think it puts alot of pressure on the other two pacers and leaves no room for any of them to have an off day . It will especially be a problem overseas when the spinners will be nullified . Spinners will more often than not be redundant overseas . Trust hardik's batting and bring in another pacer.
maniac Posted October 29, 2017 Posted October 29, 2017 Have to agree...Pandya needs to find his niche soon and I think it is his batting

Vilander Posted October 29, 2017 Posted October 29, 2017 This is true esp in a flat wicket. Bhuv kumar does not know how to bowl above club level in flat wickets with new ball. So if you bring in harddick after him the batsmen get hard on. LORD_analyst 1
Temujin Khaghan Posted October 29, 2017 Posted October 29, 2017 Give Hardik as much as bowling before 2019wc because he surely is going to play our entire campaign in that series. I don't give two hoots about any other odi tournament other than the world cup I don't care about the champions trophy either. The world cup is the real deal. Why waste that spot on some spinner if it is Hardik who has to play the world cup. Rohit Dhawan Kohli - - Hardik Dhoni Chahal Shami Bhuvi Bumrah As of this moment, These are the confirmed slots in the WC for me in the opening match... Only the positions 4 and 5 need to be confirmed...

He has been batting and bowling non-stop in all 3 formats. Before that , he was bowling quite well. 4) We should look for a stronger 6th bowler like Shankar or Krunal, to cover for bad days. Can be a good 6th bowler. I would prefer KL Rahul at 4. We need to get fast-bowler Md. Siraj ready too as he is a genuine wicket-taker with a quick yorker. On Indian pitches, probably any 3rd seamer is a struggle but so is the first seamer like Bhuvi. Elsewhere? He's fine.
SK_IH Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 I agree with OP and I like to see following side in future Rohit Dhawan Kohli Hardik Dhoni Krunal Washington Sundar/Pant Bhuvi Chahal/Kuldeep Bumrah Shame/Siraj/Another Seamer I have seen this general tendency with Hardik of throwing his wkt away when looking for quick runs straight away, him being a regular no.4 can be beneficial in many ways Also Dhoni has to improve a lot with regards to his striking but he will be in squad for sure it seems And about Washington Sundar,we have given so many chances to Jadhav and I see Sundar Washington bringing something similar to the team what Jadhav brings, tight bowling and hitting if needed. And I have more confidence in Sundar's temperament than Jadhav anyways. I would also like to see Iyer and Vijay Shankar in the mix if things as backups. Our team can be so strong with few more tweaks ,like what we have done with our bowling unit but yesterday's useless win will go a long way in ensuring status quo remains.

Overseas, we will play only one spinner. You can consider Pandya as 5th bowler rather than third seamer.
Rightarmfast Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 I do believe this is just testing water with this attack. They dont have a strike bowler in the attack yet. And a lot can change over a period of one a half years.
CoverDrive Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 Have Shami as the third seamer in the team and then get 6/7 overs from Pandya and then slip in few from Jadhav
wanted_desi Posted October 30, 2017 Posted October 30, 2017 If you can't trust his bowling, then you should have able to trust his batting in top 5. Which is far away from reality at the moment. He is more of a bowling all-rounder right now, so he should be able to get 10 overs every match.

He's not the 3rd seamer though. He's the 5th bowling option behind 2 seamers and 2 front-line spinners.

What ?? That makes him the 3rd seamer . Unless India play Shami and trust Hardik the batsman a lot more . I guess the new spinners aren't as good with the bat as Ashwin and Jadeja

No, he is a batting alrounder and he has proved that on most occasion bhe has batted up the order. He was never a bowling alrounder. I have more trust in his batting than Karthik, Jadhav, manish combined.
