I have a feeling that Bumrah will get his chance by T2 with Shami pulling up with another "niggle".

We need to start with BBS attack and then S can leave for his niggle and we can bring in Umesh or Ishant in 2nd test but BBS must start.

Ishant has been taking wickets that’s what matters...I might get killed by beetle and newguy for saying this but In the mid innings when conditions have evened out Umesh at times looks more threatening and bowls a few jaffas over Bhuvi but at the end of the Bhuvi has cashed in every opportunity and is taking “wickets” that’s what matters.

I think Bumrah is next in the pecking order for now after Shami,Bhuvi and Ishu but the top 3 have not done anything wrong to be dropped.

BBS must start and Bhuvi is the best bowler in the line up as good as Shami because Shami breaks down after every few games, and has class to deliver in few sessions while Bhuvi kind of becomed like a work horde and also leads in taking wickets since he is fitter than Shami.

We have to start with BBS attack ensuring three world class fast bowlers are there for the first test.

Low odds on that happening though - there's no way Kuptaan Wrogn will bench both Ishant and Umesh in favor of Bumrah.

World class in LOIs doesn’t always mean world class in tests...however we don’t know that either ways yet if he is going to sink or swim ...so based on current form Ishant Bhuvi and Shami are our top 3....right now all we can say about Bumrah is that he has loads of potential.

Yes, that is true but if Bumrah plays and does well in the only warm up game then won’t be surprised.

How can you bring a limited overs specialist directly into the test team? This is insane !!! Bumrah is a waste selection.

What makes him a limited overs specialist? he has 89 first class wickets. I dont think ishant or yadav picked up much more than that before getting their test caps.

Why Bumrah was not allowed to play in Ranji match is beyond me. This is stupidity of highest order. How can Bumrah play any test cricket if he has no red ball cricket practice. Are they just taking Bumrah to get experience and get him ready for England series???

One of these 3rd seamer will screw us again in South Africa like they screwed us in 2006 and 2010.

Don't you think it is stupidity on our part to expect all these guys to to turn the switch on and become world class. They have to be world class to dismiss SA batsmen.

Shami for all his hype picked up one wicket in second innings and Ishant none.Pitch was flat but batsmen were weak also.Catches were dropped in first innings but second innings they simply did not bowl well enough.

I don't understand why are formers players saying this time we have very good bowling attack. No we don't have good bowling attack.I would have loved to see what Bumrah can do but otherwise I don't see Shami, Bhuvi and Ishant winning test match on their own.

Because he will injure himself. The bowling action he got ,  looks very prone to injury in long testing runs. Hence we should keep all the pacers in squad. Select/rest according to the conditions and how they feel

You can't wrap them in cotton wool, if they get injured then so be it, they have to play FC if they are selected in test squad.

They cannot assume it is injury prone action, Anderson also had his action remodelled when he started as they thought it would lead to injuries. But he was injured after they altered his action and totally lost his effectiveness until 2007.He became world class only when he reverted back to his natural action.

Bumrah is bowling with this action all his life and he has played FC also so it is foolish to tinker with his action.Every fast bowler will get injured at some point so it is foolish to expect them to remain injury free.

James Anderson action is way to smoother than Bhumrah. Now you are right to say that Bhumrah may not get injured. Reason for that is since he has bowled this way since young age, he may have developed right muscels/bone density/ligaments to do the job. I am not saying you are wrong. But, he is so important to our limited over death bowling, Do selectors want to risk it?

Hence I say, Take them all on trip, and use them wisely

This is test cricket ,they cannot fear about ODIs.It would be injustice to Bumrah to deny him a chance to prove himself. He knows fully well there is chance of him getting injured. There is no question of using them them wisely, if he plays he will bowl as many overs as others do.This is three test series so question of getting overworked will not come into picture.

And yes, I firmly believe Bhumrah cant york out a batsman in test arena. It only works in odis and t20s where Runrate clock is ticking in batsmans mind

You must have missed starcs bowling. Now bumrah is no starc but fast accurate yorkers are still super effective
