Is that the reason for reduced speeds? How long is usual recovery from shoulder strain for match-fitness to bowl 2-3 days in Tests?

has developed a niggle while bowling in the second Test against Sri Lanka.

Umesh Yadav is understood to have developed a shoulder strain and according to a VCA official, has been advised to report at the NCA in Bengaluru for a rehabilitation programme in order to recover in time for India’s departure to South Africa in the last week of December.

NOW guys we know as to why was umesh bowling SLOW...now i have sympathy and not anger towards Umesh..i was thinking that umesh is underperforming but now i know the reason.

he will definitely bounce back and come out roaring.

Even if he is 99% fit we should rest him. Have to play a 100% fully fit team no matter what. IIRC Zak was slightly injured in the 2011 Cape Town Test and broke down in the 2nd innings.

zak was never fit in that test and he was played wrongly and ZAK also hid an injury...no player should play if he is carrying a niggle or injury.

And Munaf Patel hid an injury in the deciding test in our 2006-07 tour to SA. What is it about SA tours and our pacers hiding injuries?

Zak on wheelchair is a better bowler than Unadkut

Yaad mat dila . I never understood how someone could bowl the ball so straight, no deviation in the air or on the pitch and same line-length.

Need an able replacement for Umesh, type for Type. Get Aaron in.

I don't think Aaron is in the fray (in the event UY is not 100% fit). Maybe someone else will be considered.

He developed a niggle during the match. He was bowling same way right from ball 1. You will always have sympathy for Umesh and you will always put down Bhuvi because speed guns. Nothing to do with any actual performance or reasons

bowling speeds measure speed of ball leaving hand right? my physics is rusty but it says nothing of the deceleration in speed thereafter. Ishant is medium pace i don't care what the speed gun says. he can't make the ball climb into batsman off a good length.
