Have been watching this ashes and he looks totally done.

He looks really mediacore in nonswinging conditions....not that he was great before..

He has reached no 1 bowler ranking this year only. Averaging probably 15-16. He has probably hit his peak atm. First 5-fer in Aus, career rating of 894.

Avg. 36 in Aus

Avg. 33 in Ind

Avg. 31 in south Africa

Avg. 40 in srilanka

Avg. 48 at waca

Highly overrated  trundler

he's generally suspect outside of England- wouldn't use performances abroad as proof of a decline

This. Pointing those averages in this thread is meaningless as he has been worse away earlier. If anything he has improved over last 4-5 years.

He is not on decline, rather he is improving.

Like ICF-er wrote,

Anderson in Tests under cloud/bowling conditions = Legend = Rohit Sharma in ODIs on flat-tracks

So, they still have their use

No. It isn't. He's never been a threat overseas but is still too valuable in home conditions to go yet. Wishful thinking from the OP ahead of the 2018 series I think ;)

Might as well manage his workload and not take him overseas though.

I would love to see Cook and Anderson still in the XI for England when India tours next summer.

Is that because you don't rate them? Agree Cook probably wouldn't make much difference, whether he plays or some unproven opener, the result would be the same. But Anderson in home conditions is irreplaceable. Otherwise we're stuck with Jake *ing Ball. Things are that bad.
