Is Rahane useless on 350 pitches?

He is useless in ODIs. Period. An odd quick 50+ doesn't mean much.

Why bash the guy when he showed the right attitude, and chose the right approach - to attack SA's part-time spinner.  Execution can go wrong at times, but Rahane tried to do the right thing today.

He is weak against spin. Will never work at no. 4 in ODIs.

Iyer has right game for ODIs.

Approach was right, shot selection was wrong. You can keep the run rate up without stepping down the track. This is where the weakness against spin in his game shows where Kohli is solid who doesn’t have to step down the track always to dominate the spinner while Rahane has hard time doing the same.

Rahane comes down the track premeditated. See the number of times ball is dropped short of him when he comes down the track. While Kohli picks the length.

Wohi toh bola, his confidence and game against spin is weak and hence he does. Not all players come down the track to spinner always to dominate. Rahane finds it hard. I am there are exceptions always but Rahane isn’t the best spin player around. He has definitely improved though but not there yet.

he didn't waste many balls either, which was a good thing to do unlike a certain Greybeard who is half-blind from senescence.
