Can a mid-30s pacer bowl 135 k  to 145 k / 147 k throughout the day in test matches, like the way Shami has done in 2016 and 2017   ?

145/147 k is effort ball yaar, Shami most operates in the 135-138 zone. Moreover since 2015 he has been playing only 1 format, that too on and off because of injury.

No.   In 2016 and 2017, Shami's most common deliveries have been 137 k to 143 k ... with effort balls at 144 k to 147 k.

He bowled a bit slower only in the S.A. test series 2018, when he was obviously focused on other issues.

. Moreover since 2015 he has been playing only 1 format, that too on and off because of injury.

When that 1 format is test matches, it is still very difficult for a 35 year old.

Yes. Wahab has been doing it for a while, and there’s no way in this world that man is 32; I mean look at his hairline.

When was the last time he bowled in the longer format? Shami is our prime pacer in tests and played a huge role in winning the last test match in South Africa.

He last played against SL in the UAE. In 2016-17 he was consistently 140+, and no one is going to make me believe he was only 30.

Wahab's pace has been fluctuating a lot in test matches in the last 2 years.

While he has bowled some really quick balls ...  he was often seen bowling 130 k to 137 k spells in test matches.

Since the Australia tour he lost some lace but before that he was consistently 140 ks. He seems to have regained his mojo since then, and did clock 153 km/h in the PSL.

Wahab's  ability to bowl some really fast balls is unquestionable.

But, the point we were discussing was whether a 35 + guy can sustain high speeds throughout the day in test matches.

Wahab ( who is probably 35+ ) has bowled some really quick balls in tests ... but has not been able to sustain those speeds throughout the day in tests in the last 2 years ( which is natural for his age )

Mitch Johnson at the age of 36 is struggling to cross 140K in IPL.  Brett Lee whose peak pace was 155K used to bowl his effort bowl at 145K when he was 36.
