Who should replace Pujara at no.3 in test cricket?

Looks like Pujara is done for good and its time to find a suitable replacement for the crucial no.3 position. So who should replace him in Indian team?

Rahul. Iyer. Raina.Raydu (pass yo yo) some of this might require bit shuffling around. Shaw and Gill can wait a little bit.

Gill has the potential to be our Babar Azam. Talent wise, both are similar. The only difference is Pak selectors gave him chance at young age and he is now No.1 T20 and No.2 ODI batsman. Our selectors still keep playing TTFs.

You maybe correct. I just dont know when is the rigt time to give them a break. I always err on the side of experience. Pujara is done and we can all agree.

But do we need a babar azam ... that too when dhoni is already there to play an Azam like inning. Gosh even old dhoni is better than Azam.

Raina and Raidu are old, especially the former is past his expiry date TBH.

Lol stop demeaning Gill by comparing him to Babar,at least Kusal Mendis se hi compare kar deta lol,Gill even at this stage of his career have better range of strokes than Babar

Dhawan and Vijay are our openers for now and its not changing soon. So no.3 is the only place open for replacement.

ashamed of posters suggesting gill,shaw...they have done nothing in test first-class........first let them be a good white ball players..

at no.3 both gill and shaw will nick the red dukes ball three times in an over in england against anderson and broad....let them earn their place...no need to hype.(talking only of testmatches - not odi's, they are pretty good in odis)

how many has gill scored in ranji,mate??  a good  white ball player on flat pitches  is nowhere close to red ball in english conditions.

KL Rahul is the natural replacement if Pujara is dropped. I think he was forced into the opener role because the paucity of positions available in our playing XI.

 

The truth is, we should be looking for 2 new openers soon anyway (unless Vijay regains great form this overseas leg).

Hanuman Vihari is a good option, has done the hard yards in domestics and has good technique for International cricket IMO.

 

Gill will have to do a couple of Ranji seasons and then considered for tests.

Please don't bring KL Rahul at number 3. Let him play as opener. He is at his best as a test opener and this makeshift arrangements will only cause further problems. 

Pujara might very well play this entire Eng tour though going by our selectors, captain etc!

Agree. They are old but some yougster needs to score more runs. It is never easy but Pujara is not the one.
