Please drop Pandya to maintain Test cricket’s sanctity.

Pandya never does well whenever batsmen show aggression. It was foolish of Kohli to bring him on when Curran was new to the crease. Always rely on your specialist bowlers first to take wickets, as Pandya is just a backup option.

pandya as a backup bowler or a backup batsman is useless in Test cricket in the long run is the argument . Depending on the situation, is he better than a specialist bowler like jadeja who can bat a bit or a specialist batsman like rohit or nairwho can bowl a bit  is the discussion. I am not convinced. kohli seems to prefer pandya for now, and in this series pandya deserves his place. We need to work with him.

So with hindsight out of the way, how many times you think Pandya can pull this kinda spell, in less auspicious conditions?

Which mainstream bowler can pull that kind of spell?

If a mainstream bowler has a hard time pulling it off...how can you expect a all-rounder to do it on regular basis....

It is a once-in-a-lifetime spell.....

As long as he is economival and takes 3 to 4 wickets per match, he is okie...

For him to seal his spot, he needs to be more consistent with bat

That is correct. Using him against a new batsman was poor captaincy.

Joker Pandya will perform with either the bat or ball once in 5 matches and will be in the team for another decade based on just that.   Logic :  He is a pace bowling all rounder hence should play in SENA countries.

Pandya rightfully deserves some criticism for his bowling innings. Although he got the 1 wicket, his economy of 6.31 is far higher than the next highest of 3.5 by Broad. Although the poor economy came from only a few bad overs, this match looks like a low scoring thriller, we may not even get a first innings lead from here, so those 2 bad overs by Pandya are magnified.

It is not about statistics. As soon as wicket now 4 falls, we begin to fear the worse. Pandya is not giving any confidence. We really need a proper batsmen there . We did fine when dada was our no 6. Why can't we have someone like that

Apart from Kohli and Pujara, we do not have consistent batsmen .... the specialists are a problem atm

Pant and Pandya walking in at #6 and #7 doesn't give any top order to play freely. We are doomed.

Was watching pre-match today - ajay jadeja said something very true pandya n pant are impact player so they ll always be in news either for their impact or their failure but they ll never go unnoticed

even pujara hasnt been consistent- 2 innings on this tour 1 in SA in total 3

pandya has played 2 knocks so not much of diff

Well that's true, then Ashwin to follow, what a atrocious lineup,collapses are always the corner

On Pandya,yet another test so far it is hard to fathom what is his strength, he was equally poor in both departments

But Virat has to keep him in the loop today and not totally depend on main bowlers in the side, otherwise his utility will again be questioned

Over a long career statistics are important... and his weaker stats (bowling) are improving remarkably.
