How did India appoint someone with drinking problems as coach?

That is the question out of all the people India could have gone with they choose a guy who has clear drinking problems and a captain who has no clue?

 

Kohli is a gun, elite batsman but he has no clue, the only trait he has is to be over-aggressive, he is a very selfish player as well but most of the great players are selfish. 

 

Shastri is just a drunk and it's obvious to anyone watching he has massive issues with alcohol can't believe he is coach of an international team.

All these tours are basically holiday & shopping jaunts... the players themselves have selected this coach on special demand...

First of all India did not.  Kohli appointed him.

Fans can't see though kohli's stardom. 

Basically this team is a friend group. Everyone is their to protect each other's interest.

A watchman was needed to keep the affairs private. A tried and tested bevda is best for the job.
