I won't be surprised if it was Dhongi instructing him to bowl line and length rather than concentrating on pace all this while. A fast bowler is always a fast bowler. You can't compel him to change his way of thinking else it will be detrimental to his morale. I have never seen a single out and out fast bowler succeed once he has been asked to reduce speed and concentrate more on line and length. You can't force a lion to behave like a cat. Agression is the "Key Word" here.

True.. this makes the situation look far more worse. CT final was complete strategic disaster which manifested in the match itself

Probably the most interesting bowler to watch on Indian wickets at this time in a test match. Has his inconsistencies but you can’t forget where he comes from and what effect he has had on his peers in Indin cricket, especially the young generation of Indian bowlers. 

 

He will always go down as the pioneer

of this new Indian fast bowling culture. This guy deserves credit for spreading and creating fast bowling culture and the ability to stay fit. It has rubbed onto lot of youngsters who want to perform better than him and replace him. That in itself is an achivement for Umesh and he deserves lot of credit for that. Bowlers now really want to come into the Indian team and bowl fast like him.

Yup..till this season he was consistently fast which was never done by anyone before him. Even Srinath was never consistent with pace.

This is the most objective bowling I have ever seen from Umesh.

 

There was a purpose behind what he was bowling in almost every over.

Yeah he did... Overall our bowlers should have picked more number of 10 fors in overseas as there is virtually no competition from spinners. If you remove Irfan Pathan (since he got it against minnows ) , the nbr of 10 wicket hauls by our fast bowlers is just 4. Very poor.

10 wicket hall in a TEST shows he is QUALITY....SHAMMI will have competition and now Bhuvi may find it difficult to be in the 11.

in australia 11 in test may include Bumrah ISHANT Umesh and Shammi with one Spinner in Ashwin or maybe 3 Pacers could play with Ashwin. 

could be 3 pacers hardik and ashwin

Yadav under kohli has been a serious improvement since that kotla match against saf. He has improved his control ,tweaked his action a bit not losing too much of pace in the process and mist importantly got backed up by the skipper 

Great performance by the bull ,hope he keeps it up !

People keep saying Umesh has not got a chance on green pitches while bhuvi has, ignoring the fact that the guy sprays all over the place on green pitches and becomes useless
