If four pace bowlers, I think one has to be Bhuvi so that the tail isn't too long.

Man to man, India is the better team (bowling/batting perhaps not in fielding). Aussies got away at MCG and India blew a tough chance at Brisbane. Anyways, back to real cricket. Exactly 10 days to go. We are now scheduled to play a CAXI at SCG from 28th November in a 4 day game. Come December 6th, I would like to see an Indian XI as follows: (provided no injury in the meantime) 1) Prithvi Shaw I was almost certain about backing M.Vijay as he had a good Australia tour in 2014, but I feel Australia is one place where the pitches will suit Shaw perfectly. As a strokemaker who loves bounce and carry in the wicket, he may prove to be the X factor we missed in England. Also I feel, like how Krunal and Khaleel have been backed by the management in the LOI's, Shaw will be given a long rope. This might just release some pressure off an youngster, as he will know the team backs him. 2) K.L Rahul Again its 50:50 between M.Vijay/ Rahul but Vijay have been given many chances before. Rahul being the younger and more talented one, I feel he should be persisted with. Atleast for the first 2 tests. If he fails to deliver, his place may be up for grabs after this series. 3) Cheteshwar Pujara 4) Virat Kohli 5) Ajinkya Rahane Perhaps our best bat in away conditions after Kohli. Needs to be given chances in Australia ahead of Sharma anyway looking at their past performances in OZ land in 2014. Now comes the tricky part. Adelaide will be a flat deck. As its not a day night test, evening swing under lights is not an issue. Hence we might need the extra bowler. I know many ICFers will choose Rohit over Rahul/ Shaw but I feel Adelaide is not the place to be selecting him. Also, as Pandya is injured and Jadeja will hardly bring anything to the table (1 spinner is enough at Adelaide), I think we need 5 genuine bowlers. 6) Rishabh Pant 7) Bhubaneshwar Kumar He might not be effective after the new ball spell as in Australia you need hit the deck bowers, but we need his batting given we are a batsman short and without a genuine allrounder. 8) Kuldeep Yadav Leg spinners have always been more effective in Australia than Offies. Be it McGill, Warne or Kumble. He has also been on top of the Aussies in the T20 series. He is must in Adelaide. 9) Ishant Sharma This could be the series that defines his career. Has been a constant performer for us in the last 3 years. Even in England, he bowled well. He has the ability to bowl the back of a length ball most suited to Aussie pitches. 10) Moh. Shami I will prefer him above Yadav. Yadav has improved a lot and might get a game at Perth or MCG but upfront, Shami should be given the go ahead. Also, as Bhuvi is in the XI (not much effective with the old ball), Shami might balance it out with his reverse swing and yorkers with the older ball. 11) Jaspreet Bumrah Perhaps the only bowler to have a sure shot selection at Adelaide. The above might be controversial with many ICFers as I have selected 5 batsmen, 1 wk and 5 bowelers but the thing is , we don't have an all rounder. Heck, not even a batsman who can bowl (like Sachin/ Ganguly/ Yuvi). Also, traditionally our batters have performed well in Australia but we always struggled to pick up 20 wickets. 5 bowlers is a must this time. If 5 genuine batters can't score 350, neither will the 6th batsman. Good choice! This would be my team too with the exception of perhaps adding Umesh Yadav to the XI. But that can only be at the expense of BK. UrmiSinhaRay and Tridibans_16 1 1
putrevus Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 You can’t do it.it will weaken batting too much.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Moochad Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 I don't agree with BK being in the XI just to have something resembling an allrounder. He is nether so otherworldly with teh new ball that we need to take it away from our other pacers and his batting can be better replaced with a pure batsmen like Vihari or Agarwal. He also didn't impress when he did get a chance bowling in Aus. My XI Rahul Shaw Puj Kohli Jinks Vihari Pant Kuldeep Bumrah Ishant Yadav or Shami based on form UrmiSinhaRay, AuxiliA, Tibarn and 1 other 1 3
putrevus Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 He does have best stats among all Indian fast bowlers. His batting is best among all fast bowlers. You need five bowlers to take 20 wickets.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk UrmiSinhaRay and Tridibans_16 1 1
vvvslaxman Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 It is a travesty India doesn't have a leggie in their set up. Even average leggies are more potent in Australia than ace offies with Kookaburra. UrmiSinhaRay 1
Tendulkar1996 Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 Rahul Shaw Pujara Kohli Rohit(spin) Vihari(spin) Pant Shami Bumrah Umesh Ishant If spin expected, take out umesh for kuldeep. UrmiSinhaRay 1

They are not more potent, they did play Karn Sharma and one of the reason why they lost that test was him being totally useless. UrmiSinhaRay 1

Not even someone like Sehwag who can bend his arm for a couple of overs. Playing 4 bowlers is suicide in Australia unless you have Ambrose/ Walsh or Waqar/ Wasim in your lineup. In all our previous tours, except perhaps 1999-2000, our batsmen scored centuries. But our bowlers hardly ever took 20 wickets. Laxman and Tendulkar scored centuries in 99 2000 UrmiSinhaRay and SrinjayDutta 2
neel roy Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 (edited) I would go for Vijay instead of Rahul Vijay Shaw pujara kohli rahane vihari pant ashwin ishant shami bumrah We can play two spinners in Sydney. Vihari can bowl 7/8 overs. I have seen him bowl in first class cricket. In Australian pitches his bounce will be handy. Ashwin can bowl 24/25 overs and Vihari 7 to 8. Rest 57/58 pacers. And i can guarantee Pant will be the biggest flop. He ll guide it to third man or get caught in 3rd slip. Dont expect more than 17 18 average from him across 4 tests. vvvslaxman Posted November 25, 2018 Posted November 25, 2018 You don't need 4 fast bowlers for Adelaide oval. I would go with Jadeja in place of Bhuvi or Shami.

Adi BB Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 Spinners are useless in Australia anyway and more so ashwin ,so my 11 is Shaw Raul Pujara Kohli Rahane Vihari (he can bowl a few overs) Pant 4 Pacers . Now we can gamble and play Kuly instead of a pacer if it's really turning
rtmohanlal Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 Vijay Shaw Vihari/Pujara Kohli Pant Rahane Jadeja Ashwin Kuldeep Bhuvi Bumrah
Jamadagni Posted November 26, 2018 Posted November 26, 2018 Just keep it simple and go with 6+1+4 combination. Score 350+ in the first innings and we're never going to lose it.
