Trichromatic Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 As per @timesofindia report, @ICC has asked @BCCI to pay $23 million of 2016 WT20 tax deduction, failing which India could lose hosting rights of 2023 WC — IndianCricketFansForum (@ICFans) December 22, 2018 If true this could turn out BCCI-PCB like fiasco. 1. ICC is claiming that BCCI promised a tax exemption during 2016 World T20. 2. ICC didn't get tax exemption from state or central government 3. Minutes of meeting of ICC held in Singapore in October this year read that BCC will have to compesate for tax deductions 3. As per reports BCCI will lose 2023 WC hosting rights if they fail to pay the money. 4. ICC has also threatened to deduct money from revenue share of BCCI from ICC. Now what has BCCI done: 1. BCCI has asked ICC to share minutes of meetings where they promised tax exemptions 2. BCCI says that ICC doesn't have anything like this in minutes of meeting and that's why not sharing the details. 3. It has been reported that then BCCI chief Srinivasan didn't promise compensation for tax deductions to Shashank Manohar led ICC. Quote In the ICC board meeting, held in Singapore in October, the minutes of the meeting read that the BCCI would have to compensate for the tax deductions that the ICC faced as India hosted the 2016 World T20, after no exemption in taxes was given by either the state or the central government. The ICC has also threatened the Indian board that a failure to comply with the demands would make them deduct the amount from the revenue share for the ongoing financial year. India is supposed to host the 2021 Champions Trophy and the 2023 World Cup, which again would come under jeopardy if BCCI fails to meet ICC's demands. As per a report in TOI, the BCCI has now asked the ICC to share the minutes of the meeting where they had promised to get them a tax waiver. The minutes, however, haven't been shared by the international body as yet. “The ICC is shying away from sharing any minutes because they don’t have any. They just want to recover that money from India,” a source told the newspaper. “Time and again, Shashank has targeted BCCI for his own personal agenda,” say board members. The BCCI members are confident that the Shashank Manohar-led ICC's failure to provide the BCCI with the minutes will help their case and hence no deductions from the revenue would be made. “It’s become fashionable to blame BCCI,” said a board member. “Biting the hand that feeds, eh? Is that what it has come down to? A sports body that has economic value primarily because it feeds on India’s commercial stake in the game is telling India that it cannot host a World Cup? And that too with an Indian heading that organisation right now? What a joke,” a senior BCCI member further said on the subject. It is reported that while the BCCI was headed by former president N Srinivasan, at no point of time had the Chennai-based administrator promised the ICC to compensate them for tax deductions should they fail to receive a waiver from the government. If indeed ICC fails to provide details, then it can turn out to be legal battle like PCB-BCCI.

R!TTER Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 (edited) Why the * does this ICC need tax exemption? Is this good for nothing profit making body creating jobs in India, is based in India, has assets in India? The BCCI should seriously say "go take a hike, mike" - the ICC milks India & threatens our interests at every turn, why the heck should they get a whopping 160cr tax exemption! Are they running a charity in London or Dubai? Edited December 22, 2018 by R!TTER express bowling, Lannister, BrantFUGH and 2 others 1 1 3
Real McCoy Posted December 22, 2018 Posted December 22, 2018 India should boycott ICC and strike a deal with other countries mainly ECB and CA to arrange tours. What has the ICC done but collecting money. They haven't done anything to popularize cricket around the world and we have a WC coming which does not include associates. Fock off you greedy parasite UrmiSinhaRay 1
