In India successful players are treated as Demi-Gods...Then you've politicians involved in Board administration. On top you’ve huge money involved in players endorsing or advertising... Finally the selectors themselves are small time ex-players who have inferiority complex... It’s difficult for them to take bold decisions unless backed by the Board itself... PS: Not to forget if the Captain himself is incompetent to lead and depends heavily on the player (whom you expect to retire) to help in captaincy... There are some teams that play very well upto a point and suddenly show a significant drop in their performance.
