India vs Pakistan world cup history

Team Result Margin Toss Bat Ground
India won 43 runs won 1st Sydney
India won 39 runs won 1st Bengaluru
India won 47 runs won 1st Manchester
India won 6 wickets lost 2nd Centurion
India won 29 runs won 1st Mohali
India won 76 runs won 1st Adelaide

So far 5 of them won batting first. Once won batting second.  Hope Kohli doesn't go in with a timid, defensive mentality as we did in CT final where Bumrah was bowling defensive line right of the bat to Fakar Zaman. To compound the misery he bowled a no-ball too. We go hard at them like we always do in world cups.

No matter what, I think Kohli will opt to field first, he is a pre-programmed bot with very little common sense. Let us see whether the myth of him being a great "chasemaster" holds true in the grandest stage of cricket, surely he can't embarrass himself any further in WCs.

I think Indian team is so much better than Pakistan that toss may not be the deciding factor. Key is that India needs to bring their A game to the field that day because Pakistan will bring their A+ game because of domestic pressure.

Him and shastri bot. Amazing duo.

Luckily India did not play Pakistan when Pakistan was really strong and was beating India left and right, in 1975, 79, 83, 87 world cups. We all can imagine who would have been the winner.

Pakistan were lucky as well not to play India in bilaterals (2013-19), when they were really strong and were beating Pak left, right and centre. Your beloved H2H record would have gone for a toss as well. :giggle:

This is misleading. India had a 8-7 ODI W/L record against Pakistan up until the end of 1985. This included two wins in the B&H world series which was a big multi-nation tournament, second only to the world cup. Pakistan's superior head to head record is solely due to their team's exploits from 1986 to 2000 (catalysed by Miandad's last ball six) when Pakistan have a 45-21 advantage over India. It goes without saying that whenever the two teams met during this period Pakistan started as favorites. However, quite surprisingly, there were three world cup encounters during this period in 92,96 and 99 and India ended up winning all three!:two_thumbs_up:

Since the turn of the century, 2001 onward, India have a 25-21 advantage over Pakistan including three more world cup wins in 2003,2011 and 2015. It can be safely said that luck had very little to do with India's 6-0 record against Pakistan.

Record used to be about ICC tournaments not just world cup as you guy pretend these days. We end your streak by beating you in 2004 Champions Trophy match in England and beat you father's day final 2 years ago. It is meaningless now.

I know the empty head you are talking about. Never seen him share any well-researched post ever.
