Ill go with Shami n Bumrah and Kulcha. Will back kuldeep despite him being avg till now ........among bhuvi , jadeja, kuldeep he is one who can get bunch of wkts in a matter of few balls . Manchester till also hasnt been a slow wkt .....its been a good batting wkt so will go with kuldeep

Birmingham was a good batting wicket and you saw what happened. He for sure can play against NZ, not against England.

Its ok.....its not bhuvi or jadeja has shown they are far ahead like shami showed to bhuvi

Kuldeep was Plan-A and we shud stick to it ......its a long tournament form will fluctuate . All it needs is one good day and he is match winner on his day.

Even against England he shud be given a serious thought .

form has not been there in the first place.  need to learn from last England tour at least where spinners sucked.

Also, it was rainy, cloudy conditions the day before the pak game. But, we still scored 340.

So, it is a proper batting pitch

lot of Commentators have said even if there is tinge of green ,its mostly dry underneath ... It's like a trap where everyone feels, ball will swing initially ,but in reality nothing happens.

Pakistan too was sucked into that trap of thinking .

It’s got to be a man to mAn contest.

in bowling :

- taylor- jadeja

- williamson- pandu

- the Gavin larson types -   ChahAl / kuli

- the rest- doesn’t matter

ground fielding is going to very important and cannot have missed opportunities . So jaddu has to play

batting :

kl - walking wicket against boult

rohit - has got to reign it in .

Dhoni- key for this game against those dibbly dobblies

kl, rohit, Virat, pant, dhoni, pandu, jaddu,

Chahal, shami, bhuvi, bum

Form wasnt even with dhoni or gilly before WC final 2007 , 2011.....

On last tour of england kuldeep got 2 fifers in LOI..........

Youngsters like shaheen n rahul got better as tournament progress and kuldeep did bowl well against pakistan on manchester wkt only. Their was a reason we bought these guys ahead of ashwin n jadeja and they need to be stuck with.  U need to back ur match winners and he is one who can change game in a span of 2 -3 overs. Bhuvi n jaddu wnt be any effective either on a flat deck....specially when bhuvi has also been coming from injury .

Wc is a diff game , Same Amir who we will play easily many normals days on patta was a diff bowler in CT final on a patta .

India had better plan on leaving Boult alone for the first few overs. Rather India be 0/30 after 10 overs, then 2/45.

Once his first spell has passed there is plenty of bowlers to take advantage of. Catching up those extra 15-20 runs is easily achievable, esp if Hitman plays regulation cricket shots.

Boult is a genuine match winner. He can break our hearts. KL is potentially a walking wicket when he bowls.

I feel given our bowlers form pick those who are in good nick

shami

bumrah

Pandya all no brainers

chahal no brainers

bhuvi jaddu and kuldeep - of all three bhuvi has looked out of touch . Kuldeep vs jaddu it’s gonna boil down too .

Rohit, Rahul, Kohli, Jadhav, Dhoni, Pandya, Pant, Jaddu, Shami, Chahal, Bumrah

Pant is not a number 4 at all yet, unless the score is 200-2. Jadhav offers a bowling option over Kartick, NZ seem like the weak team that might allow him to bowl a few if required when a wicket falls. At number 4 I believe he can get a pretty good score with a nice SR, I've seen him do this before and he hasn't had the opportunity this world cup.

I don't believe the ball will swing much and otherwise BK is pretty much useless. Shami is a strike bowler and BK batting is not needed if Jaddu is at 8. No Kuldeep for me, not convinced about him this tournament, can easily milk him off the back foot, can't bat, can't field much.

and jadhav is a number .4 ???? he avg 9 with a s/r of 50 at no.4

whenever he is given opp up teh order he blew it.....he is best at 6

btw, ground are still very dry. Any rain gets immediately sucked in and dries up. So, my prediction is , Its going to be good batting wicket but there will be no doom and gloom for bowlers. They will get chances here and there but good batsmen and hack, all should score.

How many games at number 4 though? Probably not many. It's not all about stats, the reason I suggest this is because in his game I see someone who can nurdle effectively and get us a half century minimum. That's what we need at 4. I have no faith in Kartick at 4 who will find a way to get himself out I feel. I hope Pant is not 4, just way too loose to risk in that position in knockouts. Ideally I would like Dhoni at 4 but it's not happening.

Also Jhadav no longer comes in at 6, it's actually 7 where he is largely useless and not a big hitter.  Pandya is now 6 and 7 should be Pant who is a hitter. The way we are playing is we build a platform from our top 3 for 30 overs, then the rest of the guys come in. So I would like Jhadav at 4 to continue that for 10 overs and get us 50 from 60 balls or something.

It's going to be good batting wicket. From Aus vs SA game, looks like the wicket will remain flat throughout. The boundaries are also quite big. So India should go with Jadeja in place of DK. Let's not forget, this is where Bhuvi got injured and walked off during Pak game. Touchwood there should be no injuries to bowlers. But its better we go with 6 bowling options.

Problem is not how many but what did u do in those chances....with his ability he is lucky to even get that many chances

karthik is not good for either....its proven

If anyone shud bat at 4 its pant or dhoni or even pandya who has done well when promoted but not jadhav who never did well at given promotion. If he did u think his place wud ever come in doubt

Pant is totally unknown and loose, so I disagree with you on that. Sure he might do well, but he is unknown right now...the number 4 batsman should be someone who can play an array of roles like UV from staunch defence, to rebuilding to hitting big shots. Pant is so far a one trick pony, would you risk your world cup on him at 4. It's almost like having senior Afridi at number 4, he may get you a 100 but he may go after 3 balls as well. We agree about Dhoni. Pandya could be a good one at 4 but I don't want to lose his later hitting. Kedar overall averages 43 and a SR of 100 with 2 hundreds, 6 50s, perfect number 4 among the choices we have. Dhoni I like a lot but I'm worried spinners can stop him at 4, although not a big concern against NZ.

Jhadav only lost his spot because like I said he was coming at 7, he is not a number 7. We used to have someone like Raina there before, you need to be able to hit from ball 1 there or be a good bowling AR. Jhadav is not that either. He's a batting AR (can bowl 2-3 overs max).

And yet he has 2-100s overseas in test cricket ......n if pant is unknown how do u knw he is loose

and jadhav is tight :hysterical:

How sure are u that jadhav willl play well coz at-least he has done worse then pant at 4 in pretty much similar number of chances

UV didnt become uv overnight it took him around 5 yrs ...atleast pant has the talent.....jadhav with all due repsect doesnt have that talent

what his one trick ???

Even afridi was dangeorus in early days.....his fall was not due to his style but coz he stopped working hard on his batting

So does jadhav ....and his avg of 9 clearly reflects that

SO if dhoni comes to bat and opp use spinners use players like pant, pandya who ll scare the spinners away

his place was always on edge coz he never did something amzing to keep it neither he had some talent that was meant to be invested

He is a batting A/r yes but also a lower order batsman......he hasnt done much when given chance up above

@Ankit_sharma03

Dude I don't doubt you have watched a lot of cricket as you say. But as I said before, your ability to think is pretty questionable and on top of it you are being aggressive so I'll reply in kind. Weren't you masturbating over Kuldeep before and saying those who want Jaddu haven't watched cricket like myself, and then a few matches later you reserved your stance? Just because you're a massive arm chair fan who has seen every ball since 1980, doesn't make you superior, sorry uncle, an eye for tactics is something else. Why are you talking about Pant and tests? We are playing ODI cricket and Jhadav has played more games, is way more experienced in domestic limited overs and ODI. For knockouts we go for proven ability at higher positions, common sense.  If you haven't seen the loose side of Pant and his ability to manufacture ways to get out (which is not a number 4) then  chasma saaf karna ka upay dhundo aur baal girne ki samasya dhundo.

Since you like stats so much Jhadav in ODI Average 43 2 hundreds 6 50s SR 100 65 games

Pant in list A which is lower standard  Average 29 1 hundred 6 50s SR 105 44 games

Do u even read my post carefully

ill explain if u didnt understand- it was condition based change suggestion not a regular one....

Read that thread carefully- i clearely wrote if the wkt is slow ......how diff was it to understand. I didnt say drop kuldeep and play jaddu all game.

If its a rankturner ill play jaddu 1st over anyone

If its a damp wkt with grass i wud suggest pick the likes of sandeep sharma n even binny

What was so difficult to understand

Sorry to disappoint to u m not old ....i pretty much started watching cricket around 96 but i observed and learned

Coz it important to understand u dnt call a player loose who has test 100s ......

when yuvi burst on the scene kambli played more games yet yuvi did better in CT 2000

Remind me what jadhav has proven when giev promotion.....pandya earned MOS when promoted

sinnce ur dumb hard brain cnt go through beyond white n grey .....ill simplify m talking about condition based changes n diff roles doesnt mean m calling jaddu or jadhav bad players

Many ppl gave List-A crap during pandya as well.....and now they enjoying humble pies . Reality is when jadhav was given chance at 4 he avg 9 and pant - 25 and diff is just one game
