One of the best bowlers in the world, without a shadow of doubt. The only reason he is off radar most of the time is because Bumrah is so good. I can only think of Srinath and Zaheer combo which may be similar to quality of Bumrah and Shami.

Boomrah and Shami are waaayyy ahead of Zak and Srinath.

Ishant- Shami - Boooomraaahh the pace trio with Umesh Yadav and BK as reserves. Never thought India would have such bowling, gone are the days when Munaf Patel clocked one ball at 142 kph and all Indian fans fantasize him becoming an ATG.

Kohli said that Umesh and Saini are the test reserves now.

Munaf clocked good speeds initially then slowed down. Before his time zak and nehra bowled peak of 145 to 149 in odi. You should stop belittling indian fast bowlers.

Srinath bowled at least a few deliveries over 150 kmph. nehra clocked nearly 150 (149+) in 2003.  while we did not have a systematic and well-developed fast bowling lineup like today, these crop of bowlers are not the first bowlers we have had who touched or came close to 150.

munaf wasn't the only one people fantasized about, there was also the likes of pathan, RP singh, sreesanth, balaji, VRV singh, etc, etc who people got hyped up about before they all flattered to deceive.

Pathan, RP, Balaji were not fast.

neither was sreesanth, RP, and most of the people I've named. my post was in response to MechEng who listed Munaf as one example of a bowler who was hyped. my point is that there were plenty who were hyped up. Ind cricket has always been about hyping pace bowlers and ARs. LR shukla is a great example in the latter category as is irfan. both were called new kapil dev at some point of their life.

Bro, Srinath bowled above 150 often. I remember his spells in NewZealand, Zimbabwe or even against Sri Lanka. He was the fastest that India has produced and I am convinced he was faster than Waqar for a long period of time.

Coming back to Srinath and Zaheer combo, I think the Srinath of 2002-2003 and Zaheer were also very deadly. And skill wise, they werent much different, only difference is, that was just about the fag end of Srinaths career.

@rkt.india Irfan wasnt consistently fast, but I have seen him maintain 140k's for an over and have seen him touch 145 more than once. Sreesanth and RP bowled 147+ on several occassions. They werent acknowledged for their speeds ever.

Laxmi Ratan Shukla was not handled well. I remember Wasim Akram speaking about him fondly and mentoring him in 97-98 tour. Had someone tol Shukla to concentrate on fast bowling, he could have been better.
