"I thought they were good pitches here against India [last year]. I thought they weren't green seamers but I thought they suited us more than India" Anderson

Smith has played on more flatter pitches than Kohli did in England.England attack was better with Anderson.

Unless our bowlers make these team pay for rolling these green tracks, this trend of teams rolling out  seamer friendly pitches will not stop.

Bhuvi and Bumrah getting hurt did not help matter either.

Smith might surpass tendy/lara/viv as well & perhaps he is 2nd only to bradman. But people are behaving as if kohli is a tailender lol.
Kohli surely is on the way of having ponting like career. There is no shame in being 2nd to Smith.

In tendulkar's era we had dravid, saurav, sehwag, like greats in both format. Today we have none after kohli. Dont demean him be proud of him.

Smith has scored runs in England when Anderson was there as well. He has nothing to prove in England.

In England, Smith averages 47 with Anderson playing (not counting the first Test if the current series where Anderson got injured in the first session)

Without Anderson that average goes up to 80

Anderson's absence did make a difference. But takes nothing away from Smith's Bradmenesque run.

You are saying like average of 47 is poor?

May be he averages more because he had more to prove this time around? He came back better and hungrier for runs?

Your point would stand if he had tailender like record against Anderson. Well he didn’t so...

That was second half of his career, in Kohli's case he did have Sharma in LO & Pujara in tests do the heavy lifting! It's not like he's set the world on fire when playing crucial knocks in the second (or 4th) innings

How does NZ do it with 5 million population ?

Population has nothing to do with producing successful athletes in a sport.

Don't marathon runners from obscure African countries with a handful of population keep winning world long distance events.

Nzl has a good structure and pathway and will keep producing good players. Pretty sure the white population of SA is not that much more than Nzl, they kept putting a world beating side pre quota system.
