Will stop eating jalebi if it reduces pollution: Gambhir lashes out at journalist

BJP MP and former cricketer Gautam Gambhir was trolled heavily on Twitter for enjoying jalebis in Indore while commentating on the India vs Bangladesh Test match instead of attending the Parliamentary Panel on Delhi Pollution.

Speaking to ANI, Gambhir defended his jalebi-eating photos with former cricket colleague VVS Laxman. He said that if eating jalebi causes pollution in Delhi, then he is ready to stop eating it.

"Agar mera jalebi khane se Delhi ka pollution badha hai, toh main hamesha ke liye jalebi chhod sakta hoon...10 minute mein mujhe troll karna shuru kar diya, agar itni mehnat Delhi ki pollution ko kam karne mein ki hoti toh hum saas le pate, " he said

As if Gurgaon , Faridabad , Noida has purest of air and water. It's hilarious a CM who is ruling over barely 1350sq km is responsible for pollution or Party which is ruling over centre and thousands of sq kms area surrounding Delhi. Air don' t know state or nation boundry

So in theory the people we are voting for to represent us are doing part time jobs

 

I can understand if some leniency is given to a doctor or something or even lawyer sounds alright but where do we draw the line

In theory public service is not *supposed* to be a job. It is supposed to be selfless service to the betterment of society.

The law is quite clear on this. They can continue their other work as long as there is no conflict of interest.

They get a salary from the taxpayer’s money. It is not exactly a charity service.

Eastern/Western Expressways have actually helped in pollution. Now trucks do not have to enter Delhi. They can use these Expressways. Thanks Gadkari hi for this.

True ,thousands of trucks (outdated diesel ones) go through Delhi at night and are a major cause of pollution .these expressways have certainly helped ,only mathura road being a problem thus far.

On gambo ,I think he has raised some valid issues in his short stint thus far but he should have attended that pollution meet ,it wouldn't have a difference but certainly creates a perception how serious you are .

Delhi pollution is dependent on weather , only wind and rain are the saviour ,no drastic steps being taken by either government to curb this menace ,they should learn from China and quickly get to work for the upcoming year.

He is not my leader neither I am following him . Blaming a CM of small area with barely half powers is simply stupid when one party is ruling thousands of sq kms and centre. If you believe that he is responsible for pollution in Delhi then please accept BJP is responsible for pollution in entire north india as AAP has no power their.

I am not saying he is responsible. Obviously there are so many reasons for that. But it is a fact he has failed to take a single step which has even slightest of effect.

In other states it is just 1 or 2 cities out of many where pollution is a big issue. But whole Delhi's aqi goes 1000+ in these months every year so he does have responsibility to take special measures.

When aqi goes 1000 plus it is because of stubble burning in Punjab and Haryana. Delhi CM has no control over it. Also Delhi is managed 50% by centre .

You think to take some measures against a problem which causes emergency like situation a CM has to be directly responsible for it ?

If Delhi govt can free electricity bills of thousands of households what stops them from buying stubble from Haryana Punjab farmers once in a year.

Even Punjab and Haryana govts have taken more effective measures than this clueless man

This is good suggestion but you cannot blame cm of one state to go another state and give money. It is duty of state and central Government to ensure stubble is not burnt. 

 

BTW as I said this is problem of entire north india not Delhi.

 

This is aqi of Varanasi. Now will you blame Yogi -Modi for it or it is the health of Delhi people that matter. Others can suffer but no question should be asked from their govt
