In LOI top 3 is the best place to bat Will also help India negotiate Boult threat. 2 right handed batsmen is a little risky IMO. Mayank's confidence will be unnecessarily dented for test matches. Vickydev
Seeing the treatment Pant got in the T20 series, there is no way he will be starting in the ODI series. Mayank will open in ODIs i think, Rahul in MO. Good opportunity for Shaw to reclaim his test opener spot. Link to comment
kohli
I don’t want mayank in odi team. Gill should be there instead of mayank diehardpacer 1 Link to comment
RajBan
Mayank and Shaw should open for NZ and SA. I am even ok if Rahul opens, but please don't shamelessly change his place again when Dhawan gets back.Dhawan has been good but he has not attained that stature in Indian cricket where team has to sacrifice careers of other people based in his unpredictable availability. Sandeep99
It will be a travesty if Rahul is asked to open again to accommodate Pandey. But I'm sure the brainless brat thinks in that way. Ideally Shaw should open with Mayank/Gill and Rahul should be at 4/5. His stroke play down the order is the need of the hour for India. Link to comment

Lannister
Damn. I was looking forward to see him open in Test matches against Boult and Wagner. This timely injury will only help him prolong his Test career. Whoever scores runs in his place, will have to make way for him when he comes back. Lucky fatso. Link to comment

zen
Go w/ the below: 1 & 2. Agarwal & Shaw (so they can prepare for tests as well) 3. Pant (could play tests) 4. Kohli (plays test) 5. KL 6. Iyer / Panday 7. Jadeja (plays tests) 8. Thakur 9. Kuldeep (plays tests so do not expose him much in the series)/Chahal (rotation) 10. Saini (likely to play tests) 11. Bumrah/Shami (rotation) (play tests) Link to comment

SUMO
Pick two openers whom you want to open with in tests as well. Thus, Shaw and Mayank should open in ODIs too. Give ourself best chance to win test series. Link to comment
ShoonyaSifar
Expecting a couple of other players to report injured soon. They have a history of getting injured while being on tour outside Asia. Rohit's injury should also wake up the TM on its 2023 WC plan. Carrying too many 35+ players to a WC isn't going to end well Link to comment
