"George floyd protests for the brave people on the frontlines of democratic struggles" - will we see similar protests in India?

George Floyd protest is ‘for the benefit’ of ‘democratic struggles’ abroad – US group NED, known for promoting regime change

The National Endowment for Democracy, a soft-power group mostly known for splashing government dollars on pro-US influence campaigns overseas to enforce regime change, has endorsed protests against police brutality at home.

Also on rt.com America masterminded ‘color revolutions’ around the world. Now the very same techniques are being used at home

In a statement on Friday, the NED came out in support of the protests against the police killing of unarmed black man George Floyd, which, while originally peaceful, spiralled into violence, wrecking havoc across dozens of US cities. The group, which styles itself as a “private and nonprofit foundation dedicated to the growth and strengthening of democratic institutions around the world” but is notorious for being used as a vehicle of US foreign policy abroad, said that it hopes that the movement for racial justice in the US will inspire other “brave people” to challenge the status quo all around the globe.

Such a movement is needed not just for the sake of our own country, but for the benefit of brave people on the frontlines of democratic struggles around the world

In its emphatic endorsement of the ongoing protests, marred by looting, arson and numerous instances of violence, the group equated its doing of Washington’s bidding abroad with the civil rights movement that brought the system of legal segregation in the US to its formal end, arguing that the NED’s mission is “based on the same values of freedom and human equality.”

In a not so thinly-veiled innuendo, the group, which is sponsored by the US Congress and is backed by both Republican and Democratic parties, expressed hope that the events in the US could ignite similar movements elsewhere.

May the present crisis lead to the realization of the ideals that animate our democracy, and may this give hope to those in other countries who share our commitment to freedom and human dignity

The NED, founded in 1983, has courted controversy for using its US government allocated resources for encouraging regime change in countries that refuse to toe Washington’s line, like  Russia and China. The group, along with other US-based “NGOs” supported the 2004 Orange Revolution in Ukraine and later funneled millions of freedom dollars to the country ahead of the 2014 anti-Russian coup that brought down Ukraine’s former President Viktor Yanukovych.

In 2015, Moscow designated the NED’s activities as “undesirable” after it was found to have sponsored political campaigns aimed at influencing the Russian government’s decisions, including discrediting the nation’s military forces and the results of elections.

The outlet has also been caught red-handed stirring anti-Beijing sentiment  in Hong Kong, drawing fire from the Chinese government. In December 2019, Beijing sanctioned the NED along with several other US-affiliated organizations, accusing them of  "horrible activities in the months-long turmoil in the city."

"[There is] a great amount of evidence proving that these NGOs have supported anti-China forces to create chaos in Hong Kong, and made utmost efforts to encourage these forces to engage in extreme violent criminal acts,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry said at the time.

From the guys who brought you the delhi riots to 'save democracy' in India...get ready for similar protests across India. All for saving your 'democracy' of course.

If i had to guess, these will happen whenever the modi government shows a desire to 'regulate' american companies.

A matter of time, unfortunately. They are just waiting for the right "trigger".

It will mostly likely to be an agitation of the muslim community. They might try provoking dalits, like they did in koregaon back in 2017.

As long as the BJP positions itself to politically take 'advantage' of the aftermath - such as by saying 'desh ke gaddaron ko, goli maaron saalon ko' - they'll be fine.

Usually 6 months lag, we might see similar violence by the end of the year.

I think the trigger will be in Bengal, next year we will be witnessing probably the most important and high profile state election in many decades, could be a defining moment in our country's history, bawaal hone wala hai. Already stage is being set in the form of many mini riots, destruction of public property and show of strength in almost all districts in the state. Mamata has bungled up this health crisis, TMC's popularity is the lowest it has been since mid 2000s, BJP has never enjoyed this level of support, real tension in the air between the two communities and political cadre, just needs a spark. If Bengal burns, it won't be small scale like Delhi riots, the rot is too deep and violence is at another level even on normal days, there are close to 100 illegal active bomb factories in a radius of 50 km around Kolkata centre, minorities are armed to full capacity, and less we say about Bengal/Kolkata police the better. With every passing day we are getting closer to a Direct Action Day repeat, hope Modi imposes President's rule at the first sign of trouble and sends the army in, Bengali Hindus will be sitting ducks otherwise as they have always been against Islamists in the last 800 years. Beyond a point doesn't matter TMC, Left, BJP, Congress it will be a Hindu-Muslim fight. Already many TMC Hindus are shifting allegiance to BJP like the Left Hindus did last year, they know how it works.

I honestly thought that bengal was beyond help. Mamta is one of the strongest opposition leaders in the country, and the demographics of bengal have always been screwed up with illegal bangladeshis getting ration cards and what not.

Population control act  is another possible trigger point, already Islamists in Assam have threatened civil war if the bill is passed.

It won't be the forced kind in India. It will be based on incentives, or lack of them for those not complying.

Those who break the norm should lose benefits (higher loan interest rates, higher income tax) and even be disenfranchised

This actually shows that the "independence" we got in 1947 was a superficial one. American and British media even today have enough power to cause a turmoil in India.

The only way to defeat this is the defeat of dominant western narrative on global issues, how this happens we are yet to see.

Disenfranchising is the only way because otherwise more people means more voters which means more appeasement for votes and decisions taken for votes.

Unfortunately it is also not very democratic and not quite possible in a country like ours.

India's independence was never 'won'. Independence was gifted to india by the british on the condition that they ensure the continuity of britain's institutions: parliamentary democracy, system of law and state mandated 'secularism'.

Secular, democratic india is britain's legacy. Once it dies, so does britain's legacy (and influence) in the subcontinent.

British legacy doesn't have a long life either, I've watched videos of Mirpuris creating chaos on public streets in UK and police doing nothing, a stark contrast from 100 years ago when they were ruthless against our freedom fighters on our soil.

I hate idiots who post All lives matter as some kind of a contradiction to the Black lives matter.

Of course all lives matter be it humans or animals but seems like these idiots are missing the basic context of what happened here, this is not the first incident. This isn’t political either. The whole Trevor Martin incident in Florida   and the protests was it in Minneapolis or Detroit happened under Obama a few years back.

So yes using  the quote to get the message across is a 100% justified.

However my problem is with the social justice warriors and especially the celebrities who like to jump on it for their 2 seconds of attention, I wonder how many of the rappers/musicians , superstar athletes and actors from the black community have even built a school or something or gave back to their community. Leave alone the rest of the attention seeking bandwagoners.

The freemason motto is order in chaos. Do you think these ppl who ruled the world would let a bunch of Mirpuris and jamaicans 'tear apart' their country without good reason?

There is something much larger at play.
