You do realise that on average inflation in India is around 5% right?

Rs100 two years back is around 110-111 today

How do people expect the govt to raise money?

Giving free food to so many people for 6-7 months needs money.

Food for the poor who may have lost jobs is more important that petrol in the car.

They are only giving rice and wheat. No vegetables no protein. Just additional 1 kg chana for entire family for a month. This was same Congress policy which you People use to criticise very much.

They are giving far more that that .

May be your state is skimping ....but people are getting more than they had in pre pandemic times.

You will never see any good ....so it is difficult to believe you.

Fuel prices arent affected by inflation per se. They are rather the cause for it.

ofcourse they are.

Oil companies have to pay their staff etc. Inflation means wage increases. Then there is also an issue of currency exchange rate which is impacted amongst other things by inflation. The primary source of inflation in India is food grain prices. I.e our inflation basket is dominated first and foremost by food items.

Secondly, those blaming Modi government for raising taxes. If not CG, SGs would have raised taxes anyways. Modi gov just acted first, else many non BJP state governments would have raised taxes on fuel and blamed the CG for the outcome. Now the SG are dependent on CG for the revenue.  If you are doing to get the blame, may as well get the revenue. Just a very smart move.

when. did Congress face a global epidemic?

Congress and other parties just gave importance to only wheat and rice. As a result we have severe malnutrition Problem. If you think a person after eating only 10 kg rice per month can be healthy then it's ok.

No one will talk about state govts increasing VAT on pily to generate revenue.

Which state govt put that ad?

Question is about hypocrisy here. Not about price rise.

As per santabanta school of economics, govt should be able to provide avocado toast and low fat french vanilla lattes as breakfast to 80 crore people. Lunch & dinner menus will have to be more elaborate & decided in delhi darbar  :roti:

This is just a central scheme. States are free to supplement it. Many have. Just as petrol price is not only CG tax. Cg also directs funds to states to run their programs. Each state for example will have different pulses they can procure. Chana dal was least problematic for Cg.

In addition, I assume that even the poorest will have some money saved to pay for something extra such as another 1 kg of dal. The vast majority of indian live in rural areas near farms. Those farms must also be producing something.

If i go into further details, of family of 4, 2 are likely to be children. So the uniform distrobution does not make sense. Children have lower calorific needs.

Lastly this is a stop gap till November. With India opening up this does not mean all people will remain unemployed till November.

Mudiji takes a leaf from my book on speeches. But Mudiji is overweight and not as dashing as me.
