Can Pandya be better all rounder than Jadeja in tests?

Pandya is a no rounder at this point.  HE is at Azhar mahmood's level now. He is about 2% of Ben Stokes . Sure he can wallop sixes against hapless spinners. But in crunch situation in the world cup looked out of depth.  Only reason he will keep his place is because India is a one-dimensional side. IN any other era he would not have survived.

Its simple. Jadeja can pick wickets. his batting is an addition, not necessity. Pandya can neither play as a bowler or a batsman. Pandya is ok for ODI and good for T20 though.

Imo he isn't suitable to bat at 6 for Indian test team. Our batting lineup is not that bad yet that someone averaging 31 bats at 6.

Kapil dev averaged 31 and batted at 6.

in terms of ability he is a better batsman then jadeja specially against fast bowling. The jadeja ur seeing now is a matured one at international level ...pandya will to after a point. Pandya ability against pace n bounce is far better and they both can hit spin but pandya destroys spin much better. Even im willing to punt on this if he plays test at home his batting avg will shoot up big time

The problem with Pandya is lack first class games under him. We talk about likes of Crawley, look at the number of FC innings he has played. Pandya has to develop his batting, one aspect of his game. He will have to be picked either batting or bowling. He has more potential in batting than bowling.

He also needs play more FC games and bat at 4 for his Ranji team to develop his but I don't see that happening. So, I doubt he would ever become a good test cricketer. He would have to bat at 6 in ever condition for us to be able to have a permanent place in the test team. Yyou can't become a good test player by only playing overseas. He will have to become a 6th batsman and 5th bowler. If he can't, he doesn't have a future in test team.

yes he has to but problem is where is the time ? Even if when he is not in XI he is taken on tour like last Aus tour

He started to play domestic post injury but was on national duty again

Agreed

First team and he needs to decide either they see him as test cricketer n does he feel like he can play all formats. If the answer is yes he has to play domestic some how and also home games or else his batting wont rise grow

Jadeja if he is a good AR (after so many years of international cricket) will need to win Ind a few games in SENA like Pandya, who won a test in Eng. Also hit a 90 odd in tough batting conditions in SA on his first tour

Much like not many care what Herath does in SL, these folks will need to step up their game overseas to perform outside their comfort zones

Let Pandya play few match winning knocks in ODIs first.  He should take Jadhav's place.

He has underachieved in T20I..

Jadeja has played good inns in Eng & Aus recently & should be persisted with in Tests  especially we don't have any other good left hander in our XI.  There seems to be a shortage of good LHB in middle order in all formats.

Pandya is must have in shorter format and is certain selection It is the longer format where he hasn't been able to play enough matches due to injuries and being dropped at times.

First let him available for other than IPL seasons. Wonder how he can suddenly fully fit for ipl time and off in other times.

Don't see anything wrong in a player preferring IPL. Many players who have injury issues have opted for shorter formats. Lynn, ABD, Malinga are some of the examples who considered the workload and took the decisions.

yes the other pandya.

Dynamic duo .... Pandya is probably  the most talented Indian cricketer of the 21st century! Hits the cricket ball like a rocket, bowls fast, and fields well!

After coming back from injury, he played a few knocks like this. Even those who do not like cricket will start to follow it:

The bowling :hysterical:

When Pandya plays bowling looks like that .... as Shastri would say ball went like a tracer bullet

Btw, quite a few international players played who could not play like that

Pandya the man on a mission :yay:
