What will be the legacy of India beating Australia in Australia without Warner and Smith?

Same as Aus conquering final frontier in 2004 when we missed Sachin, Bhajji, Ganguly, Zaheer etc at various stages of the series, didn't play our 1st XI in any of those matches.

Better than Aus losing in 2001 Ind when we were without our 2 best bowlers: Kumble, Srinath.

Not Ind’s fault that Warner & Smith were not playing .... A great win in Aus for the first time ever! Hats off to the team

Same as England's Ashes win in 2010/11.

Ponting, Clarke, Hussey, Watson, Haddin did play as batsman in that series. In 2018 series shaun marsh was considered best Australian batsman?

Though one thing has to be said, apart from 2007-08 CB series we have always been hammered in ODIs against 1st choice Aus in their backyard.

Reverse is not true, they easily won 2004 TVS tr-series in India with Bracken, Bichel and Brad Williams (no McGrath, Lee, Warne) lmao. A couple of ODI series they won 4-2 in the second half of 2000s with some of their key players missing against full strength India in India. Worst was 2019 where they won without Warner/Smith....hacks like Khawaja and Turner were smashing the daylights out of Kulcha.

Warner and Smith back to tonking India. Looking back, what will be the legacy of India beating Australia in Australia without Warner and Smith? Seems like a pretty weak accomplishment in hindsight.

Warner and Smith factor was talked by many fans last year too. Nothing new and surprising that they are scroing runs.  It was expected that Warner and Smith would change things

That Aussie side was mentally down after getting whitewashed in India 2-0 especially after Laxman's 73. The 2018 side at least tried hard.

I will take a series win no matter who is not playing. Winning is all about taking advantage of opportunities. Will a batsman look to whack a long hop for six or gently pat it back because it's beneath him to attack a loose ball?

Both Warner & Smith seem to be very focussed.. Cant imagine the furore in ICF if India gets blanked in all matches of the series.
