@Gollum @Ankit_sharma03 @Lone Wolf you guys truly believe relieving Kohli of captaincy will automatically free him as a batsman. I mean do you think his recent reluctance to bat at good tempo is only to do with captaincy burden?

I feel there are more fundamental issues. Just like Dhoni, he is a great believer of those singles/doubles in the middle overs. Virat needs a change of mindset really.

yes , tempo thing has been last 2 yrs case...its to much on table affecting him mentally which is what happens to every captain

yea but he had that crazy side to him as well which he still shows time to time but its the thought im captain so i have to do it all.

His I , Me , myself is his biggest downfall.....RCB n Indian is just about him n other 2 thats why they put extra pressure on themselves

Same kohli made runs under dhoni in pressure games

I hope this is the case. There is no doubt about the God level he gets into once set but with the modern approach, I hope he leads by example so that even the others don't think twice about what should be the default mode in T20s.

In the current setup, it will be beneficial if he can be a proactive batsman at no.4 rather than 3, sandwiched between six hitters.

he shud do himself and team a favour by letting go of LOI captaincy.

Kohli is focussed guy and has the drive to pull off when he is focussed on something, problem with captaincy is it divides ur focus. As team declines further the captaincy issues takes more of ur time then anything else....as ganguly once said nothing turns ur hair grey faster then Indian captaincy.

Anyways he wont win India a trophy

also earlier he had dhoni doing half his job as captain in LOI on field and he had someone to lookup to during tough phase, now its all him

Same happened with dhoni tilln he had seniors he had help by his side, post 2011 wc.....he was all by himself and thats add more to ur headaches

Tbh going by what we have seen in IPL, Virat seems an incorrigible & adamant fellow, he won't leave captaincy especially when most of the fans/experts are seeking his axe.

I think that from team's point of view we have two slow starters in playing XI Rohit & Kohli.  Rohit takes time in the Powerplay & we often have a slowish start & other guy usually Rahul accelerates.  Then Kohli comes & does his usual thing one's & two's.   The kind of batting we witnessed in IPl from him is only going to lose matches for his team.  He gets tied up against spin & doesn't have a release shot since he doesn't have reverse or slog sweeps.  Then Captaincy thing only makes things worse.

I believe he's better these days when he decides to take on like that T20 knock vs WI last year.  In NZ his one's two's approach was flawed & Sodhi Santner tied him up.  And then In IPl yet again.

Why don't we just use the MI team and jerseys since that's what brings out the best in these guys?

Replace QdK with KLR

Replace Boult with Shami

Replace Pollard with Tewatia / Jadeja / or Axar Patel

Replace NCN / Pattinson spot with Natarajan

Fire Shastri and replace with Jayawardene

Ind has options so it depends upon the type for team you want to build

One option is below:

KL

Kishan

Samson

SKY

SDP (c)

Tewatia

Sundar

Bhuvi

Shami

R Chahar

Bumrah

Natarajan

Agarwal

Varun C

Pant

Samad (for developing him)

Do you we have any other batsmen other than Kohli and Rohit in the team who can be consistent, Pandyas of world will win nothing .  They are just caddies who are auxillary players but can never be core players.

He is to the Indian T20 team what Joe Root was to England's T20 team.

And I posted many times here saying that Joe Root is actually a liability in t20 8/10 times. Thank god, England team management & big wigs get it unlike the gandus in charge in BCCI.

Even if all those IPL batting chupershars hit their peak, the below batting lineup would still defeat them 8/10 times.

Rohit

Dhawan

Kohli

Iyer

Pandey

Jadeja

Ashwin

Even if we go by your video game fantasy result, those two times would in KOs

You can take those 8 wins in Agarbatti series

Hes still our best t20 player so no but the rest of the team needs a whole damn revamp for almost a decade now. Need a change in attitude and approach.

Maybe they could, but would not be in knockouts in the first place.

One gets into KOs by playing multiple teams .... Anyways, I do not agree with your fantasy scenario in the first place

He was our best t20 player not currently

He is the sole reason for this outdated approach,he would never allow any individual to be his self,he has a habit of dominating newcomers result is he has no one to look for support

Name one newcomer who has cemented his place or prospered under him

No one can change the approach if the top brass here the kaptaan chickens out and plays safe

We are going downhill as we think playing safe cricket can put breaks

it has rather accelerated our decline as other teams have moved on

all of SENA teams are beyond us technically, they have build  firepower while we are pondering how to stop it and defend it

A tiny island like NZ have amassed better players than us for LOIs

You must be kidding if you think Virat is India's best T20 player. KL Rahul it is for India at the moment.
