putrevus
If Shastri and Kohli selections don't perform in this series. They both should be out and get fresh voice into the team. There should be fricking logic behind selections, are they fricking blind that Shaw looks lost and Saha is fricking 100 years old.Whoever selected Saha should also kicked out why create competition for Pant. Why would Shaw be dropped and not Mayank? Mayank has earned that selection by scoring runs before NZ series. Any batsman can have a bad series. Mayank scored in tour match too.Shaw has looked terrible in IPL and also in tour matches. That is why he should not have been selected. Link to comment

Why would Shaw be dropped and not Mayank? I must say Shaw looked hopelessly out of his depth in the IPL, against both swing as well as short balls. He was immensely disappointing. Not expecting much from him, anything is bonus. I don't think he will be getting anything in his half in the first session. Link to comment

Also, Shaw was even more prolific than Mayank in tests he played before. He averages more than Mayank too. Scored more against NZ than Mayank. So once again, answer us. Why shoudn't Mayank go, instead of Shaw? Did you watch tour matches , who scored more? IPL has got to do with form of a batsman. If you don't understand this, no point in discussing further. Have we all gone crazy to bring in IPL performance when we are talking about tests? Not plugging IPL to criticize test performances but he failed consistently against quality bowlers upfront & it was never the case of him actually getting out on attacking strokes, just beaten on defence most often. His technical flaws were brutally exposed. putrevus 1 Link to comment
zen
Last series Ind won mainly because of Pujara. If such a performance is not repeated by him or shared by a couple of batsmen (each scoring 300+), the chances of doing well in the series could diminish exponentially SK_IH 1 Link to comment

Should Kohli be dumped when he has a poor IPL. Pujara also excised from the team because he doesn't even play IPL? LMAO You need to deal with the fact that Shaw hasn't put a foot wrong in tests. He outperformed Mayank in his debut overseas test series, and owned Windies in the home test series. He needs a good consistent run and he'll get it. Your chocolate boy gill will get his chance so suck it up for now. I think you are a Shaw fan. To be honest so am I , but how can you not see the problem? I don’t care about his physical appearance (balding etc) he is not here to model of course but you watch him move on the field, you can tell he is not a natural athlete, one of the slowest runner between the wickets and an atrocious fielder. This current version of slow, plodding Shaw who moves like a sloth on the pitch or on the ground is what is disappointing people. Our best bats usually also come with the best work ethic be it Sachin or Kohli, so there can be a certain bias against him. The fact that he has been out of form recently regardless of the format might just accentuate it. I would definitely tune in to watch Shaw over any other Indian opener in tests (Rohit included) but then again people would prefer Tiktok or silly videos over taking advanatage of educational content that is also available. Spot on, I don't think Mayank is technically correct either but he has earned his spot for atleast first two test matches. If he flops they could look elsewhere.Shaw is just looking lost at crease that is the main issue with him. Suhaan
Someone suddenly has started looking into IPL form going into" tests" when few days back he maintained IPL is not the benchmark as far as LOI cricket is concerned but now seems has made a u turn just before first test Edited December 16, 2020 by Suhaan sarchasm 1 Link to comment
Gollum
Hope Shaw and Vihari play all 4 tests, once you choose a rookie back him for a few matches at a stretch instead of chopping/changing. Also Gill must play in MO 2nd test onwards, KLR doesn't deserve a comeback based on white ball feats. Not that hopeful about Pant, this TM seems to have vendetta against him, last tour 150, practice match 100 in 70 balls, still can't make the XI, disgrace!!!! express bowling, Mosher and SK_IH 3 Link to comment

In test matches, our TM should have worked on forming a top 7 which includes Kohli, Pujara, Gill, Shaw and Pant. These are the exceptional or potentially exceptional batsmen in tests. Quite a few "Also ran"s are being included to block the formation of an above average batting line-up. sarchasm, Mosher and Suhaan 3 Link to comment

ShoonyaSifar
Ashwin was dropped for the 2nd test in NZ. But for our next Test now, Kuldeep who has a 5-er in his last Test in Australia does not even get a look in with Ashwin coming straight back in. What kind of an idiotic selection policy is this? If Kuldeep is not good enough, why do they even pick him in the Test squad? Link to comment

jusarrived
Pant and Gill were the only 2 I was looking forward to, don’t mind KL either though he dosent deserve a spot ahead of the guys in playing 11 . Cant wait for the first test to get over and some one other else captain the side . Link to comment
