maniac
Just wondering. These coaches have been around for a while. Bharat Arun might have done some good work with the bowlers but apart from him Can some educated fans here actually give me examples of what else has been this coaching staff’s accomplishments? In terms of strategy, grooming/mentoring a youngster, fixing technical issues of existing players etc. I know this will turn into a rant which is fine and understandable but just searching for some Positivity here. What exactly is their legacy? Link to comment
R!TTER
The only positivity, if you can call it that, is HP & JB. Now they're still relatively young & have a good possible future in all three formats, whether they go on & do what's expected is another story altogether. Rest is just Link to comment
sandeep
Pissing away a golden opportunity to win the WC by beating England in their own house - by screwing around with our own team, playing silly selfish games with the #4 batting slot. We had Peak Bumrah, peak Kulcha, Bhuvi, Shami - one of our best bowling attacks - and we lost the ODI WC because of batting. An Indian team may have many flaws, but ODI batting is one aspect where we have been consistently world class for 30 years. And this coaching staff screwed the pooch to such an extent that the team couldn't chase 240 in the age where 340 is considered gettable. That's their legacy. Selection snafus under Kuptaan Wrogn, unchallenged and unquestioned by 'Smashtri'. Ruining chances of historica test victories from England to SA. That's their legacy. Selecting Dhawan ahead of Pujara in a crucial 1st test match of an England series that we lost by 30 runs. That's the legacy. UNDERACHIEVEMENT. Chronic and consistent underachievement, especially relative to the available talent, and quality of opposition. Edited December 19, 2020 by sandeep zen, SK_IH, Stan AF and 6 others 9 Link to comment

What about other responsibilities like fixing technique or mentoring youngsters or even man management that Shastri is apparently famous for. The tension between Rohit and Kohli, no clue on injury management of contracted players, communication issues etc etc. This has been a disaster from the start. Link to comment

littlemaster1982
Gary Kirsten helped Gambhir and other batsmen with millions of throwdowns. I saw him giving catch practice to the fielders during the innings break of Ind-WI WC match in Chennai. He himself was fit as a fiddle and could do all that without breaking a sweat. Compare him with the joker we currently have. What a farce! sorak and Stan AF 1 1 Link to comment

They will do well no matter who the Indian coach is. When he had injury, Bumrah went with MI team for treatment, not the NCA. Remember the controversy about NCA refusing to certify him as fit because he was fixed up elsewhere? Back on topic - Arun the bowling coach has done some good work. The fielding coach seems to not have much impact if any. The players deserve the blame, as they seem too casual and just grin after dropping catches. It's time to appoint a hard taskmaster as fielding coach. Chief coach Shastri is only for cheerleading and we know the results. Did a new batting get appointed after Bangar's ouster or is bevda filling in? Link to comment

Do we have a pool of young pacers ready to step up? Ishant's resurgence was due to Jason Gillespie, Shami and Bumrah owe not much of their success to Arun. All other pacers/trundlers have come and gone - Aaron, Barinder Sran, Khaleel, Kaul, Unadkat, Mohit Sharma. We are stuck with Shardul Thakur and Deepak Chahar, even they will soon be gone. Saini and Siraj are almost on the verge of being derailed like KulCha. Sgattick10 1 Link to comment
