Franco Vazquez Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 I have not seen a player worse than him playing for India in Test cricket and that too for this long. He is pathetic, even Binny played a few good innings and others like Pankaj Singh played for only one game so not a fair assessment but this guy has gone on to play for a while under the guise of pure wicketkeeper even when his wicketkeeping skills are not something out of the world. maniac Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 No, he has played some crucial Knocks at home and you can ask Jadeja and Ashwin what they think about his safe keeping. I know OP you are having a good time today but take a break. nevada, Stan AF, beetle and 1 other 4

NameGoesHere Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Bating wise, yeah past it probably. BUT If everyone was as good in their pure specialization as Saha is at his, we would never lose. He was/ is a great pure wicketkeeper. So, nope. nevada 1

Franco Vazquez Posted December 19, 2020 Author Posted December 19, 2020 Just saw his batting record. Not even a single 50 in SENA. I agree playing innings at home is important but none of them were match saving

Maybe they will ask Rahul to try being a keeper in tests too if they really are unhappy about Pant. This would be a silly move though.
Gollum Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Calm down OP. I can understand your enthusiasm today but seriously take a break.
Lone Wolf Posted December 19, 2020 Posted December 19, 2020 Only one word for him mediocre... Watching him since high school days but I am never confident when he's out there. There was a brief period when he was just about to lose his spot to Naman Ojha in 2015-16... Then that ton came in WI. Always thought Naman was better than him.. Kept brilliantly in the lone test he played in SL. Saha just got lucky & is riding his luck till now.
Frustrated Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 (edited) I think most will agree with the following rating of Saha on below parameters a) Keeping : 9/10 b) Batting in subcontinent: 7/10 c) Batting in SENA: 0/10 Edited December 20, 2020 by Frustrated

ShoonyaSifar Posted December 20, 2020 Posted December 20, 2020 Not at all. He stepped in after Dhoni ran away from Tests in the middle of an away Test tour. The transition was smooth, and Saha seamlessly fit into the huge shoes of Dhoni. From 2015 onwards, we have hardly felt the absence of Dhoni the keeper-batsman. That is largely to Saha's credit (and Pant in the last couple of years). However, Pant deserved to be our no. 1 test keeper during last home season after his amazing start in Eng, vs WI at home and in Aus. Can't blame Saha for being preferred by this pathetic TM largely due to their antipathy for Pant, (for not becoming TM's yesman). Overall Saha has had a very good test career, helped us transition through a very difficult period, becoming the best keeper in the world and being decent with the bat. nevada 1
