Saini is not getting picked, because nothing has been heard much about him. We are banking on Pujara-Rahane-Ashwin-Bumrah to win at Sydney.

Sad ,with Shardul there we re already playing with 10 guys

Shardul may breakdown in middle.of a spell on very first day

He may go for plenty

He will be no more thn a clown on the field

He may score a double century with the bat though

If Shardul gets 200 that will be awesome. Then Ashwin and Jaddu on 4th day onwards can run through Aussie batting.

One of the things with Mumbai lobby is there love for toothless bowling. They are one of the main reasons why India and the Mumbai team have struggled to produce good bowlers.

True. Have seen this mindset among some Mumbai batsmen of the 1980s and early 1990s.

It is as if they hate bowlers because good bowling may take away the focus from the Indian / Mumbai batsmen.

They have always wanted a David vs Goliath thing going on. Batsmen saving India / Mumbai from the big fast bowlers  ... while we should have short medium pacers who will not steal the limelight.

**  This mindset is not present in the reletively younger Mumbai players though. Tendulkar loves Indian fast bowlers.

Was in a relaxed mode after MCG win. This BS update has increased my BP now :hitler:

A team aspiring to be #1 must never pick a #9 for mythical batting ability.

Was waiting for this test series to see Bumrah, Shami and Saini batter the Aussies into submission. ( Happened last time with Bumrah, Shami and Ishant ).

We may end up the test series with an " attack " of Shardul, Natarajan and Chahar floating the ball up at 125 k.

We want to go back to the days of Prabhakar, Chetan, Madan Lal, Binny etc.

Saini did under perform in the ODI.

But that will not mean that he would underperform with the red ball. he has the capability to crank it up to 150K too. The influence of bowling coach is such that Siraj was very consistent in his full bowling outside the offstump followed by some deadly bouncers. even his 137K balls hit some of the australian bowlers.

i dont think natrajan is well known for 4 day or 5 day matches so I will be surprised if he is played. Though whether saini or Natrajan who ever is picked is bound to succeed in australia.

warner is very good against trundlers and he has beaten umesh when every umesh has bowled slow.

rohit will play. i expect mayank to succeed so i will want to give him another opportunity. Hanuma vihari is good but Rohit is better.

Shardul/Nattu didn't play any practice match.

They weren't in the original test squad.

Saini has been groomed for this role the last 4 years. Genuine quick who was 5th in the pecking order behind Bumrah, Shami, Ishant, Umesh all these years.

Now suddenly he won't be played in Australia when we are already missing 3 of our top 4 frontline quicks

Nattu, Thakur who are probably 15th and 16th in the pecking order suddenly jump the queue for God knows what reason. Let's be honest here, Thakur won't make the West Zone side for his bowling and a guy like Nattu wouldn't have made it in our 80s and 90s teams with his skill-set. Nattu still can be a gem in T20s but why mix formats?

Bumrah,  Siraj Saini..  These three form a diverse attack & if TM can't see this then in no way we will be able to match Aussies in bowling firepower.

Bumrah & Siraj can open the bowling & Siraj might be more deadly than both Shami & Umesh with the new ball..  Almost Ishant level.  Bumrah sets the tone early as well.  Ashwin will be brought early as well to counter Smith & Labu & along with Saini bowling short quick burst will be formidable duo as well.

Now Imagine Shardul here..  If Saini is spray gun then Shardul is too & unlikely to trouble Smith & labu & might give 2-3 boundaries in his first over itself releasing pressure.  Up to TM to decide who is better.  In my view Saini wins the contest hands down.

If they have decided to torture Saini, I say play an extra batsman and make it a 1st innings batting shoot-out. Ashwin+Jaddu+Vihari can bowl the extra 15-20 overs per innings to compensate. Pretty sure these 15 odd overs will give better returns than Lord Shardul's 5 E/R masterclass.

Gill

Vihari

Che

Rahane

Pant

Rahul

Jaddu

Rohit/Mayank

Ashwin

Bumrah

Siraj

A 4-8 of Rahane-Pant-KL-Jaddu-Rohit/Mayank will have alternate right/left combo and play at high tempo against older ball. Vihari won't score 50s/100s but he can spend time in the middle, blunt the new ball. Will take a 20(75) from him, huge improvement over what Shaw/Mayank have been doing.

Yes, we need an extra batsman, if not then play Kuldeep over Natarajan/Shardul. Left arm wrist spin will work huge for us.

All it took was 2 bad ODIs and his career has almost been finished. I expect better sense and decision making from Rahane (and Rohit).

Can still understand Natarajan's name being thrown in the ring for the variety, but Shardul Thakur, no way.
