There is a scene, earlier in the movie, where Shashi Kapoor's character shoots a young lad for stealing a mere loaf of bread. Shashi Kapoor asks him to halt, and then carefully proceeds to shoot the boy on his legs when he refuses to. However, when its his own brother on the run, he aims for the torso. Perhaps, the director wanted to show that familial bonds are irrelevant in the face of duty/karma? Isn't that what Lord Krishna tells to Arjun? Forget that these are your brothers and do your duty etc. Maybe it has some basis in that sentiment?

There is no singular focus on one character, and most of those who are murdered haven't been introduced in enough detail for us to take a liking to them. You know what it is about, you know what is in store for the condemned, and it hence has no 'shock' value. If anything random and later systematic acts of kindness by Schindler only restore your faith in humanity. There is a sequence, where the girl in the red dress is shown silently fleeing the Nazis. Only to later found among the pile of the dead. That was very depressing. The climax of the Titanic, otoh, was very tear inducing. As was Mughal e Azam, you can't but help feel bad for Anarkali.

maniac Posted February 9, 2021 Author Posted February 9, 2021 I was watching Pixar Ratatouille yesterday with my daughter. There isn’t anything blatantly sentimental about the movie but just the beautiful character development, the amazing background score (deserves special mention) the dialogues, just the overall vibe makes you emotional. It’s one of those beautiful pieces of work that kind of touch your heart strings
